💎 How to Care for Your Diamonds
Diamonds are loved for their exceptional sparkle and unique character, but even the hardest natural gemstone benefits from a little care.
Over time, everyday products such as hand creams, make-up and hairspray can leave a fine layer of residue on the surface of a diamond. This can block the light that gives the stone its famous brilliance, making it appear less radiant.
To help maintain their sparkle, it’s best to put diamond jewellery on after applying beauty products and avoid touching the stones too often, as natural oils from the skin can also dull their shine.
When cleaning at home, place the jewellery in a small bowl of warm water with a little mild washing-up liquid and allow it to soak. A very soft brush can then be used to gently clean around the setting before rinsing and drying with a lint-free cloth.
For pieces worn regularly, such as rings or earrings, an occasional professional clean and setting check can help ensure the diamond remains secure and looking its best. Prefer we clean your diamonds for you? Just drop in and we’ll be happy to help.
