We're so pleased to have Macha back in the shop for another excellent, interactive event for your creative mini readers! This is one for all the little Greek myth afficionados, because Macha will share how she brought to life an epic ancient myth of daring and adventure…the tale of Jason and the Argonauts! You’ll have a chance to create awesome characters like Phoebe, Perry and Cora, and set sail on an exciting quest of your own.

We've rounded our q***r booksellers and got the scoop on their essential q***r reads to pass onto you lovely lot! Starting us off is Alison C's incredible stack of q***r classics which she's very kindly written about in great detail, so please have a good read below... 📚🤗🏳️‍🌈

🥀Rubyfruit Jungle🥀
A powerful novel which explores female sexuality issues of the mid-20th century. Along with The Women's Room (Marilyn French), I read Rubyfruit Jungle when I was a student, and both made a lasting impression on me at a time when I was just finding out what life was about.

💔The Price of Salt/Carol💔
Highsmith is a brilliant writer and this is a well-crafted and intensely emotionally story. It follows the highs and lows of a romance in the 1950's when le****ns were largely invisible, and the struggle between "normal" family behaviour and real love could be very hard. Unforgettable.

〰️The Line of Beauty〰️
By turns heartwarming and heartbreaking, this story highlights how the world was for q***r folk in the 1980's, the Thatcher years and the emergence of AIDs providing the background. All Hollinghurst's novels are rich in detail and feature vivid characters; this is no exception. Booker prize winner, well deserved.

🌄The Ladies of Llangollen🌄
I was on holiday in Wales when I actually visited "Plas Newydd", the shared home of the famous Ladies in the late 18th century, before I knew the story! Fascinated by them and the house, I had to buy the book, which is a true account of their life together. They caused a bit of a scandal but were also visited by fascinated literary contemporaries including Byron, Shelley and Wordsworth.

🌊At Swim, Two Boys🌊
A very tender tale of two young men in Dublin in the early 20th century. It enlightened me with regard to the politics of the time and the build-up to the Easter Rising, as well as being a great love story. After reading it, I realised that the "Forty-Foot" is a real place, which I intend to visit one day!

Wishing an incredibly happy (and safe!) pride month to the LGBTQ+ community! Our lovely Bethany has once again taken the day off from A-levels homework to paint the Chapel A window with rainbows of all sorts. We've filled it with wonderfully diverse books, both contemporary and classic. Heartbreakingly, it's becoming increasingly politically dicey in the UK for q***r folks, but our shops are 💖always💖 a safe place for all sexualities and gender identities. Our (rather q***r) team of booksellers also have a wonderful range of q***r book recs on deck to boot!📚😊🌈
