Here is Storm my rescue Smoke Angora. He came to me age 1 when his owner could no longer look after him, and felt he needed the company of other rabbits. He was in beautiful condition when he arrived. He is now 5, and goes with me to craft festivals. He knows when the door of his travel hutch opens for a photograph that he will get a green treat!

Coming soon, my new book on the story of the rabbit. From the Ice Ages of Iberia to the present day, the story of the rabbit is an intriguing one, hidden in illuminated manuscripts, paintings, court cases and the annals of archaeology. Genetic studies shed light on the rabbit's origins, and plagues of rabbits date from classical times, 2000 years before the invasion of Australia. Available from Fur and Feather.

Little rabbits do not stay little for very long! One little Blue off to a new home, but 4 little does are staying with me. Jinx is the largest and boldest, whilst Solitaire is much more shy. Elektra and Magda are still living happily together and climb all over me at feeding time! My does have James Bond girl names. It is a good job that more films are made! Tiffany, Mayday, Domino, Vesper and Oc*****sy are does of the past, but the name P***y Galore remains unused! Here are Elektra and Magda on the lawn.

Back from the vet's visit, 5 little Blue Angoras relaxing on the lawn. I will not need to cut the grass! They were very good with being vaccinated, with an audience of 4 vet nurses. They hadn't seen Angoras before. The vet got the sexes right - he agreed that they are 5 little does! They are now 8 weeks old and it is time for their mother to go back to her own hutch. Always sad, but she will enjoy the rest.

It is good to see the fun a rabbit can get out of a simple shelf. Lockdown the Lilac Angora loved jumping into her hay rack. Surprising how such a big rabbit could perch on such a small area! Now she has a rabbit shelf to play on- but still jumps on to the hay rack as well!

Poppies are a reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of both World Wars. The rabbit keepers on the Western Front, however, didn't mention them in their letters home from the trenches. Instead they wrote about the "large numbers of dandelions"! Rabbit keepers are single-minded. Available from https://furandfeather.co.uk/product-category/books/

It is the time of year to remember the two World Wars, the courageous people who fought in them, and those on the Home Front who kept the country going. Many think of the horses, dogs and pigeons who also served. But how about the rabbits? In the Second World War they were important enough to draw rations! For those who would like to learn more...
