With the news on Monday that brown bin (garden waste) collections have been suspended in Leeds, it's now more important than ever to think about ways to minimise and manage the waste that you might generate in your garden over the coming weeks.
Let's be honest, it's a challenging situation, and this is another thing might make things a little bit more complicated for you if you've got a garden.
Obviously it's Spring (thank goodness for the good weather this week) and that means things are starting to grow. So we need a few plans in place for dealing with things like grass clippings.
Similarly, with most of us mostly at home, we're likely to be cooking more - with plenty of things like fruit and veg peelings that need to be dealt with.
We're sharing tips about home composting over the next few days - and we'd love to hear your tips too.
For now, you could perhaps take over a corner of your garden to pile up things like grass cuttings. But you might also consider getting a compost bin.
We've also been in touch this morning with Getcomposting - a Leeds-based company who work alongside Councils - including Leeds - to provide discounted compost bins.
They confirmed that they are currently still taking orders and that they are currently still able to deliver.
**It's important to acknowledge that things are changing day to day - so, as with any order, it's possible that things may change and they won't be able to deliver. But they're currently able to accept and deliver orders.**
So if you've been putting off getting a compost bin maybe now's a good time to get one (or two - composting works best if you have two heaps/bins - and there's an offer if you buy two).
