Some memories never fade.
When I was a child, my Nan and Grandad took me on my first major holiday to Florida. It was a trip that changed everything.
Walking into the world of Disney felt like stepping into another universe. The characters, the stories, the colours, the imagination... it completely captured me. Mickey Mouse wasn’t just a character to me. He became a symbol of creativity, adventure, and the magic that art can bring into our lives.
Looking back, I honestly believe that trip played a huge part in shaping the person and artist I would become. It planted a seed that grew into a lifelong love of drawing, creating, and telling stories through art.
This piece is part of my ongoing Inspirations Series, exploring the characters and moments that helped inspire the creation of Tarc the Robot. Here, I’ve brought Mickey and Tarc together on a draft board, showing how one simple character design sparked a lifetime of imagination.
More than anything, this painting is a thank you.
