Omg I was UNBELIEVABLY excited when this proof arrived in the post and it lived up to my expectations!! ‘The Witches of Cambridge’ by is being published on the 8th September this year by and you NEED to put jt on your lists for your autumn reading. It is quite dark and as witchy as you would expect from Ms Hoffman. Happily there are some lovely male characters to route for as well which isn’t always the case in feminist fantasy, happy days! This really gives dark academia vibes, with huge old libraries full of books with poisonous green covers as well as trees that produce black apples. It’s glorious. Our two main characters are nicely juxtaposed and easy to get on with. The parallels between ‘witch hunts’ in 1950s America and the trials of 17th century America are nicely drawn and the tension is palpable. Preorder it now via our Bookshop.org or through our website!

This is a tricky one because lots of people donate books. They do this to support me and I am forever grateful for such generosity. HOWEVER. I have had people dump books on me that are only good for recycling. They are not saleable. Please don’t bring them here, and don’t get cross with me when I turn them away! I have to pay to have my waste taken away as all businesses do, and so this costs me money. Please don’t think I’m ungrateful; book donations keep me going and I love you all.

Honestly, ‘Receipts from the Bookshop’ by Katie Clapham .clapham is such a joy to read. It’s the real-life diary of a lady bookshop owner (sound familiar?) and the highs and lows of indie bookshop life. Bits of it have made me belly laugh and bits of it have made me go ‘Thank goodness it’s not just me!’. It is warm, cosy and so welcoming. It’s brand new out so is only available in the hardback but if you’re a fan of bookshops in general then you NEED this one. Find it in the shop, on our website or order via our Bookshop.org. Enjoy!
