Hi guys, just wanting to let you know (just in case you were planning on getting in touch to get work done) that I will be wrapping up BikeFix, in it’s current form, from the start of next week. It’s just too quiet through the winters, despite the guys who always answered my shout out to get your summer bikes serviced in Dec, Jan and Feb.
Just wanted to thank you all for your custom over the years, especially you guys who used me exclusively from I started out. I’ve really appreciated every single customer who used my services. I’ll be back in the new year with a slightly tweaked model (I’ve a good few ideas). I’ll keep you all posted as things develop but in the meantime, ciao for now dudes

Hi there bakebook chums, hoping someone from the Ballycarry/ Whitehead area can help me get in touch with an old customer. I’ve lost their contact details when we moved back to Jordanstown from Islandmagee. They’d left these two Planet X bikes in my workshop with the hope that I could maybe get them sold to customers calling into the workshop
If anyone on here is the owner or knows the owner, could you get in touch or ask them to get in touch. Cheers if you can help

Hi guys, I’m off on hols today for a while. I’ll be back in the workshop, week beginning 28th of July if you’re looking anything sorted. Sorry for the inconvenience if you were planning on getting your misbehaving bike fixed.
In the meantime, here’s a few pics of a job I did recently. A guy’s star nut disintegrated in his steerer tube and I replaced it with a new one, while I was doing a headset service on his Cannondale. Lovely job to do when you have the right tools 😁👍

Had this lovely Cervélo P3 in for a full service. It has a very trick looking Rotor crankset with an interesting self extractor nut. You remove the crank bolt from the drive side crank arm to reveal the extractor nut, turn it out with a shimano cassette removal tool, put the crank bolt back in, turn the extractor nut round the opposite way (this leaves the flat surface on the outside and gives the crank bolt something to push against) and finally loosen the crank bolt again which will pull the crank arm off the spindle. Some Sram and FSA cranksets have self-extracting systems where you just have to loosen the crank bolt to take the arm off (the crank puller is effectively built into the crank)

Just had my chum Geraldine’s lovely wee Boardman in for a major bit of TLC. Not a summer bike this time but an ‘all year rounder’. It got a full service, bottom headset bearing, 2 gear cables, rear brake cable, couple of wee bits of gear outer, front brake inserts and KMC chain. Here I’m proudly sporting my hat, all the way from Durango, Colorado, kindly supplied by my chum .riggle who we often cycle with in Mallorca in springtime
Also had Geraldine’s husband’s B-twin in for a rear hub service, two tyres and a bit of tweakage 😁👍
Good time to get your bike in; turnaround times are getting shorter and shorter 😜

Another day, another hat and another summer bike being prepared early for next season. This time it’s the Focus of an aul chum who I used to do open road cycle races with when he rode with Team Madigan and Audi East Antrim. The bike got a full service, gear cables, gear outer cables, brake outer cables, KMC chain, bottom bracket bearings, front brake inserts (for carbon rims), bar tape, new brake hoods and front tube. Safe to say the Focus got everything it needed 👍

One of my very regular customers, who’s always super organised, had his lovely Merida (summer bike) in with me to get completely sorted in readiness for next spring. Cheers for that Chris 😁
It got a full service, top and bottom headset bearings, both gear cables, entire rear gear outer cable (it runs internally the length of the bike), rear brake shoes (inserts), new cassette/chain and bartape #😜

One of the recent bikes just off the operating table; a lovely Merckx (the original Pogacar 😜). You don’t see many of these on the mean streets of Norn Ireland. It was in for a full service 😁 #😁👍

Hi folks, we were moving into our newly renovated house last week, so only managed to get in for a few hours across the week. Apologies to everyone who has their bike in with me because I’m a week behind schedule now. Thank you for your patience but I’m back at it, full gas. I was also changing phone in the middle of it all and I was losing WhatsApp messages somewhere in the ether between old and new phone 😁. That’s all sorted too, so feel free to get in touch and fire all your repair jobs into the workshop to get sorted. Looking forward to seeing you all again 😁👍
