It's Volunteers Week, and we’re celebrating the wonderful Scarlett!

Scarlett has been volunteering with us for 6 years, using her incredible creativity to brighten up our Wilson Street store in Glasgow, even showcasing her handmade jewellery collection in-store.

Here’s Scarlett’s story 🫶:

“Hello! My name is Scarlett. I’ve been volunteering with Barnardo's for six years. When I transferred to the Wilson Street shop in Glasgow, the team gave me the freedom to really let my creativity run wild with visual merchandising and window displays. As a fashion design student, I’m always making, creating, and experimenting with new ideas.
About two years ago, I started collecting can tabs from the restaurant where I work and turning them into jewellery. The Merchant City Festival felt like the perfect moment to showcase my very first collection. I spent months of my free time handmaking every piece, and it completely sold out!
I’m still buzzing from all the support and encouragement I received along the way. Huge thank you to the amazing team, especially Gina, Chloe, and Maryam!”

From volunteering in-store to showcasing her own designs, Scarlett’s story is a brilliant example of how creativity and confidence can grow when given the space to shine 💫

We've had a busy start to the week with so many lovely donations from you guys so thank you very very much. We have completely updated all children's clothes with some absolutely beautiful pieces and the donated toys are flying of the shelves and we are refilling as fast as we can!! . The weather hasn't stopped our customers from coming in which is fantastic. Ladies and the mens departments are being refreshed daily in hope that you'll find that perfect top,dress, jeans, shirt etc! See you tomorrow

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating Jacqueline ✨

Jacqueline volunteers at our Loves Farm and Sandy shops. She has just reached an incredible 5 years of volunteering with us, and we’re so grateful for everything she brings to the team

Jacqueline loves creating handmade gifts, baskets and seasonal pieces to help raise money for the charity. From thoughtful displays to tombola prizes and fundraising ideas, she’s always finding new ways to make things feel extra special.

In her words:
“I love helping at Barnardo’s and doing what I can to support the shop. I enjoy putting things together and trying to make them look special for people. It makes me happy knowing that the little things I make can help support children and families.”

Mannequins dressed up to the nines celebrating with us as we've had the best week in a long while and that's down to all the wonderful customers who keep coming back and keep our spirits up and also ofcourse down to our team !!! Today was yet another lovely May Day wasn't it; us here at the shop are loving seeing our customers coming in having a mooch and a chat its why we are here.
