The Book Nook Kirkby Stephen The Book Nook is an independent haven for book lovers located in the heart of Kirkby Stephen. The shop connects readers with new stories and forgotten gems.

We offer a carefully curated selection of books and a welcoming space to browse. Kirkby Stephen sits in the Upper Eden Valley, with views of the Lakeland and Howgill Fells, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines. It is also a stop on The Coast to Coast Trail. Our local books – from walking guides to memoir, industrial history to nature books – reflect our extraordinary location. We all sorts o

f fiction, travel writing, poetry, art, history, etc., and a good children's range. If we don’t have it in stock, ask us to order it for you. We also sell National Book Tokens so please ask if you require any information. We are also stock records, so come and along and check those out too. We are offering part exchange, one gently used book can be exchanged as a partial payment on a new book. Be sure to check out our pre loved section, you never know what you might find. The Book Nook is owned and operated by Eileen Robley but you'll see various Robley's, (and the occasional Tarff) coming and going. We're all looking forward to talking to you about your favorite book and helping you find your next great read. So come on in, pull up a chair, maybe bring a cup of coffee, and spend a few minutes, or hours, with all your best book friends in The Book Nook.

What's next at The Book Nook? We have poet John North on August 28th 10.30 until 12. A Book Nook first, John will be giving a tea demonstration and tasting, a poetry reading and he will be signing his book of poetry "The Way of Tea".

On August 29th we have Darla Rosenberg from 1-3. He will be signing his extraordinary books. Two events not to be missed.

The first meeting of The Book Nooks BYOBC meeting was a resounding success 😁. Thank you to everyone for coming and to The Old Forge for hosting us. The chat was friendly and extremely informative, lots of new books on my reading list now. We were so busy talking we missed the eclipse!!!
