A big well done to Cameron, Zoe and Seema from our Rushden store for stepping in to help five-year-old Micah when he had an epileptic seizure while out shopping with his dad Brian.

Micah was diagnosed with epilepsy in May and often has several seizures a day. They're normally short, but this one lasted for more than two minutes, so Seema cradled Micah while he was unconscious until first aiders Cameron and Zoe arrived and called 999. When Micah came round he was very upset and confused, so they took him by wheelchair to a quiet room and made him comfortable while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

Brian said: "After paramedics arrived they decided the best course of action was to take Micah to hospital to be fully checked. The staff allowed him to leave with a magazine and toy lorry we had been planning to buy which gave a sense of comfort to Micah at the hospital. We appreciate all the support offered by the staff present who all went above and beyond for Micah to ensure he was as safe as possible and taken care of. We are so thankful to them all and it is great to know such well trained and caring staff are operating at the Rushden store." Brian and his wife Jamie were so touched by the colleagues kindness that they called in later to say thank you and to let everyone know that Micah was OK. He's since moved to some new medication which has led to his seizures stopping.

Asda Rushden store manager David said: "I’m incredibly proud of these individuals and the wider store team in Rushden. They always go out of their way to do what’s right by the customer and on this occasion really went over and above."

Baby Romie made an unexpected early entrance into the world when his mum Millie's waters broke while she was out shopping at our Liscard store with her mum Kelly.

Store first aider Jo thought a colleague was joking when she was told what was happening, but soon realised it was real. Along with customer service colleague Gaynor she helped look after and reassure Millie and Kelly, before they made their way to Arrowe Park Hospital, where Romie was born later that afternoon. Millie, her partner Cai, and Kelly called in to introduce Romie to our colleagues and thank them for their support. The store's community champion Manda also presented them with a hamper for Romie from the store.

Millie said: "The whole experience left me so grateful. The staff at Asda Liscard are always happy and friendly – and on that day, they truly went above and beyond." Kelly said: "They showed such care and kindness. They were incredibly quick to respond – they were proactive, friendly, and reassuring throughout the whole situation."

Jo said: "It was lovely seeing them all when they came back in the store. Romie is absolutely beautiful and Millie looked so well. I think coming to Asda was the baby's first big day out."

Colleagues like Teresa, Beverley and Leah from our Derby store are proudly wearing big red Happy to Chat badges to let customers who might otherwise be on their own this Christmas know that they're happy to talk to them.

We’re re‑introducing our Happy to Chat badges after research last Christmas showed that with one in 10 over 60s weren't sure they would speak to anyone across the festive period. Our Derby store’s community champion Rosie said: “For many individuals, Christmas can be a particularly challenging and lonely time, making conversation and connection incredibly important.

“Loneliness can affect mental and physical health, but simple chats can help people feel valued, remembered, and a vital part of the community. The 'Happy To Chat' incentive is a wonderful idea. I will happily chat to everyone and anyone. I had an elderly gentleman talk to me for a solid half an hour about books... but I could have been the only person that day that actually gave him the time. It cost nothing to be kind."

Look out for the wonderful volunteers who'll be joining Asda community champions like Jo from Asda Pwllheli to raise money and awareness for Tickled Pink in our stores this weekend.

Jo is a passionate advocate of our Tickled Pink campaign, which is now in its 29th year and supports charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!. She said: "I fundraise for Tickled Pink as I have lost so many of my loved ones to breast cancer. I know first hand the effects breast cancer has on families and that’s why I’m proud to support this very worthy cause – it's a charity close to my heart. We should all remember to look after ourselves and regular checks are essential for the early detection of cancer, so no matter your age please, please check your chests, b***s and pecs ... men too!"

More than 400 bucket collectors will be in stores this weekend to raise vital funds for world-class research and life-changing support services. One of the volunteers who will be helping Jo this weekend is Bethan-Mary. Jo said: "She is an amazing woman, an amazing breast cancer survivor who is a ray of sunshine. I'd like to thank each and every volunteer who help with our Tickled Pink collections and fundraising. It really does means so much as your support helps others to know the importance of early detection. Your experience and knowledge of what you have gone through inspires others to go and check themselves."

When an elderly customer couldn't remember the PIN number on her bank card and was getting upset because she couldn't pay for her shopping our checkouts colleague Kim immediately stepped in to help.

Kim tried to calm the lady down, told her to take a minute in case the code came back to her, but when she still couldn't remember it and was getting upset as she had no-one to call or help Kim paid for it herself. She said: "She was looking in her purse and counting out pennies, but didn't have enough so I just thought if this was my mum what would I want someone to do. I had my debit card on me so asked the manager if it was ok that I used it to pay for her, and that's what I did. It meant a lot to her. If it was my mum I'd like to think someone would do the same if the circumstances arose."

Kim was awarded star points in recognition of her kindness which covered the cost of the shopping as well as a reward for going above and beyond. Asda Boldon's community champion Tracey said: "Kim's really modest and didn't want to make a fuss, but the lady was really overwhelmed by Kim's actions and could not thank her enough. Kim is our hero."

Geoff from our Mount Pleasant store in Hull uses sign language to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing customers – and now he's teaching it to fellow colleagues so they can help too.

Geoff, who's the store's community champion, learned British Sign Language 15 years and uses it whenever needed. He recently helped an elderly deaf customer with early onset dementia who was shopping on his own and had started to feel unwell.

Geoff said: "He was a bit unsteady on his feet and said he would struggle to get home with his shopping. I helped him to a bench and continued to communicate with him. After a while I said I'd walk him home, which wasn't too far. I linked arms with him and carried his shopping bag too. When we got to his home I made sure he was comfortable on his sofa, placed his shopping in his kitchen and, when I was sure he was feeling better, made my way back to the store."

The gentleman's daughter saw Geoff on her dad's Ring doorbell camera and later came into the store to thank him. Store manager Jade said: "Geoff is a great colleague and always supports customers who are having difficulties. It was great to see Geoff react in the moment and help the customer through using sign language. This has encouraged the store to utilise Geoff's BSL skills and have training days in the store for the colleagues."

When a wallet belonging to 99-year-old Asda customer Bob was handed in at our Gateshead Old Fold store, security colleague Andy immediately took it round to the sheltered housing complex where Bob lives to give it back to him.

Bob, who uses a motorised scooter to visit the store at least twice a week, had reported the wallet missing the day before, but after a thorough search it hadn't been found. Then the following day someone handed it in after spotting it outside the store. And, as Andy often has a chat with Bob when he calls in, he knew exactly who the wallet belonged to and where it needed taking to.

Bob said: “I’d done my shopping and got to the till to pay but couldn’t find my wallet – luckily I keep my cash separate so I could pay. Later on I heard a knock at the door and it was Andy. ‘Look what I’ve got’ he said. It was a lovely thing to do. I’ve got to know Andy well over the years and proud to call him a friend. Everyone in the store is so friendly and helpful. They always look out for me and If I need anything they will get it for me. I love shopping at Asda – it’s my local shop."

Asda customer Craig has thanked our colleague Austin for the "amazing care" he gave him when he suffered a heart attack at our Stafford store.

Craig, who's 51, had been for an eyesight test at the store's opticians when he started to feel unwell, so made his way to the pharmacy where Austin, who was a nurse with the NHS for 34 years, was working. Craig said: "I started to get agonising pain in my left forearm and I knew something was wrong but just didn't think it was a heart attack. An ambulance was called for me and Austin looked after me until paramedics arrived. He answered any questions they needed to ask and also spoke to my wife to tell her what was going on. He was absolutely brilliant, very attentive and reassuring at a time where my life was very much at risk. I'd like to thank him for everything that he did."

Craig had a surgical procedure in hospital and he's now on medication and on the road to recovery. Austin, who was helped on the day by Asda Stafford pharmacist Riyaedhul, said: "I'm just thankful and delighted that he's out of hospital now and okay – a very good outcome!"

Asda community champion Lorraine and her colleagues at our Bradford store are always on hand to help blind customer Trevor whenever he comes in – and he's so grateful for their care that he says he'd be lost without them.

Trevor, who's 78, lost his sight in a motorbike accident when he was 21. He calls in three or four times a week to do the shopping for himself and his wife Joan, who's a wheelchair user, as well as some of the neighbours from the sheltered housing where they live.

Trevor always goes straight to the customer service desk where Lorraine or one of her colleagues will help him round the store, bag his groceries and order him a taxi home. He said: "I don't know what I'd do without the help I get at Asda – they are all amazing and I'd be lost without them."

Lorraine said: "Trevor is so lovely and comes in about three or four times a week. He always has lots of stories and cheeky jokes. He's a pleasure to serve and we love seeing him."

When a customer at our Tilbury store realised she'd left her purse at home and was getting upset because she had no other means of paying for her shopping checkouts colleague Julie immediately stepped in and bought the groceries for her.

The lady, who was rushing to get home as a man who coming to fix her boiler, came back into store the next day to reimburse Julie and to bring her some chocolates as a thank you. Store manager Neil said Julie hadn't told him or any of his colleagues what she'd done. As soon as the customer told him, he nominated Julie for an Asda service superstar award, earning her star points to cover the cost of the shopping as well as a reward to thank her for her kindness.

He said: "Julie is just a great colleague who serves every customer to a high standard. When I spoke to the customer the next day she was so grateful that there are still people like that in this world and she was so taken back by her generosity. The most telling part of this whole story is that Julie didn't tell anyone and did it as it's in her nature to do that. A truly lovely person."

Julie said: "The lady was getting herself into a state, shaking and crying because she needed to rush home because she had a plumber coming. She was also short of food. So I stepped in and tried to calm her down. It wasn't really helping, so I offered to pay for her shopping. She was a regular customer. She was very thankful and said she would return next day and give me the money back, which she did, along with a box of chocolates."

“Mummy can I have an Asda please” – that’s what six-year-old Asda fan Dylan asked for Christmas just a week ago, and keen crafter mummy Danielle sprang into action to make him one in time for the big day, with a few extra bits from us when we spotted her wonderful story and videos on TikTok.

Dylan's been going to Asda all his life – he and his twin brother Mabon were born eight weeks prematurely and our Queensferry store was the first place they went to after leaving hospital – and Danielle says he loves all things Asda. So when he asked for an Asda for Christmas she pulled out all the stops to one make him his own “biblically accurate” shop.

Danielle’s posted a series of videos which have gone viral on TikTok showing how she’s been customising and upcycling toys to make them look as close as possible to the real thing. Dylan has cerebral palsy as a result of being born early, so Danielle has adapted the toys so it’s accessible from his wheelchair or if he’s playing on the floor.

She said the request came out of the blue just a week before Christmas: “He just randomly said he wanted an Asda for Christmas, so I was like ‘let’s go!’ I didn’t know you could buy a toy Asda shop otherwise i would probably have got that, but I enjoy making things and I’m really happy that I’ve made something that’s unique.”

Danielle says she’s been shocked by the reaction to her TikToks: “I didn’t expect it to get that much attention. I wasn’t even sure that what I was making was that good.” After we saw the TikToks our team sent her a parcel of goodies, a gift voucher which she’s spent on more items for Dylan’s shop, as well as Asda ribbon to officially open the store. Colleagues at our Queensferry store are inviting Dylan in for a VIP tour in the new year. Danielle said: “He will absolutely love that. I know he’ll be so excited.”
