Everyone at Shanaghan Hill Farm is incredibly proud of Esther on being shortlisted as a finalist for the BVA Veterinary Leader Award.
Whether working as a veterinary surgeon, supporting equine welfare initiatives, contributing to public policy, teaching future professionals, or helping care for animals here on the farm, Esther has always been passionate about improving animal welfare through practical, evidence-based approaches.
As a family farm, we know that good animal welfare depends on collaboration between farmers, vets, researchers, owners and wider communities. We are delighted to see that commitment recognised at a national level.
Congratulations to all the finalists and to Paul Horwood on receiving the award.
A fantastic evening at the BVA Awards Dinner celebrating excellence across the veterinary profession.
I was delighted and deeply honoured to be shortlisted as a finalist for the BVA Veterinary Leader Award. To be recognised alongside such highly respected colleagues was a privilege in itself.
Thank you to the British Veterinary Association, YuMOVE Veterinary and Vetnique for a wonderful evening, and congratulations to Paul Horwood and fellow finalist Ceri Owen.
I am incredibly grateful to the many colleagues, mentors, clients, researchers, horse owners, farmers, welfare organisations and policymakers I have had the opportunity to work alongside throughout my career. Any recognition reflects the collective efforts of many people committed to improving animal welfare and advancing our profession.
Improving the lives of animals through better welfare, greater understanding and evidence-based approaches to their care and management remains at the heart of everything we do at Shanaghan Veterinary Services.
