Alzheimer's Society have found that 71% of carers say that they are already grieving the person they knew while still caring for them.
This is a devastating statistic, but true. Grieving the person you used to know doesn't just mean grieving and missing them, but also all of the future plans and things that could have happened if things had been different. It also means having those 'what if' questions constantly circling in your mind, possibilities and feelings of upset, guilt and sadness.
This Carers Week, we urge you to think of those who are caring for loved ones, and let them know that not only what they are feeling is completely valid and more common than they may think, but also that they are never alone.
Grieving a loved one, or rather who they used to be, is certainly unfair, cruel and horrible for anyone. This Carers Week, offer some help to someone who needs some extra support and be a shoulder to lean on๐ซ๐ญ
