This Learning Disability Week, we should all strive to support those living with learning disabilities, whether that's through appropriate adjustments and removing barriers so that healthcare is more accessible in the workplace and at home or through socialising and improving independence and confidenceโ˜บ

This week is dedicated to challenging the barriers that people with learning disabilities face, celebrating their contributions to the community, and raising awareness of the challenges within employment and social inclusion๐Ÿซ‚

Lumiio can support people with learning disabilities who choose to use our products, helping those around them to better understand and respond to their individual needs and preferences. Our aim is not to speak for people or make assumptions about what they need, but to provide tools that promote safe, respectful, and person-centred care when support is wanted โ˜บ

From your wallet, purse or bag to the person who can help.

If you're living with dementia and need a little support when feeling confused, distressed, or unsure, remember: there's no shame in asking for help. Shopkeepers, council staff, police officers, organisations, and the public can help. They simply need to tap & hold โ˜บ๏ธ

Alzheimer's Society have found that 71% of carers say that they are already grieving the person they knew while still caring for them.

This is a devastating statistic, but true. Grieving the person you used to know doesn't just mean grieving and missing them, but also all of the future plans and things that could have happened if things had been different. It also means having those 'what if' questions constantly circling in your mind, possibilities and feelings of upset, guilt and sadness.

This Carers Week, we urge you to think of those who are caring for loved ones, and let them know that not only what they are feeling is completely valid and more common than they may think, but also that they are never alone.

Grieving a loved one, or rather who they used to be, is certainly unfair, cruel and horrible for anyone. This Carers Week, offer some help to someone who needs some extra support and be a shoulder to lean on๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’ญ

According to the Carers Week 2026 report, 44% of unpaid carers feel that they aren't supported enough in their communities.

An unpaid carer said that: "A key way to build a carer friendly community is to ensure that local services and organisations actively recognise and support carers. This could include providing flexible options at work, easier access to healthcare appointments for the people we care for, better information about available support services" - small changes like these could build stronger, more carer-friendly communities ๐Ÿ’•โ˜€๏ธ

Wednesday's theme for Carers Week is Work ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ

Balancing work and being an unpaid carer can be incredibly difficult, causing many carers to feel overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted. ๐Ÿซฉ๐Ÿ˜“

Carers in the UK have the right to time off for emergencies, protection against discrimination by association with a disabled person, right to request flexible working, and unpaid carer's leave โš–๏ธ๐Ÿค

From allergy cards with clear emergency instructions, to dementia and Alzheimer's cards, communication difficulty cards, "If I'm Lost" cards, and more neutral emergency information cards, there's an option to suit a range of needs.

We believe safety shouldn't come at the cost of independence or dignity. That's why we've created solutions that help individuals remain discreet in everyday life, while ensuring they can be identified and supported when they need it most.
