This is the gritty, unglamourous side of running a shop, and it's important that people see it.

I know there will be a small minority who come out of the woodwork trying to make excuses for this man's behaviour, but honestly? I'm just not interested.

Let's tick off a few questions to try and avoid the usual persecution in the comments. 

Q: He only stole small things, why did you bother?

A: This is my livelihood. I put my heart, soul, and savings into this business. Nobody has any right to just help themselves regardless of value.

Q: Why didn't you call the Police?

A: I did, when he was spotted in the area a short time after the theft by another business. The call taker told me it would be graded a level 3 at best, which basically means an officer will phone you at some point. Hence when I saw him, I chose to do something about it.

Q: Why haven't you shown his face?

A: He gave me his details, including his DOB when I stopped him. Granted, they may be false, and if that's the case the Police will conduct the relevant ID enquiries.

Q: 'Enter some sort of question about GDPR here…'

A: As you'll notice on this reel, I've blurred out everyone's faces including the offender, but let's be clear; I didn't have to.
During opening hours, my shop is a public place - 'a place to which the public have access' - (“Public place” includes any highway and any other premises or place to which at the material time the public have or are permitted to have access, whether on payment or otherwise ”). You have no specific right to privacy in a public place.

I am not afraid of confrontation. I never have been and I likely never will be. This was one of my strengths in my last job. One day I'm sure that'll get me into hot water, but while I'm able to, I'll do what I can to protect my business and hold people to account for their actions, even if that's not in a uniform anymore.

Lastly, huge apologies to all the lovely customers I had to ask to leave the shop so I could detain the offender, your patience and understanding was hugely appreciated.

Closure reminder 🔒

We wouldnt usually be open on a Tuesday, but we are opening tomorrow (Tuesday the 2nd) in preparation for the shop to be closed for one week.

We close at 𝟰𝗽𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 2nd 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲.

We reopen at 𝟭𝟬𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲.

Our website will remain open for orders, however orders will not be shipped until the 11th of June at the earliest.

We are using this week to take a short break, meet some exciting new suppliers, and move the candle making workshop to a new location.... which.... (spoiler alert) will mean a bigger shop floor for you to explore!

🌳 Branch Change 🌳

The Spring blossom has been packed away for the year, and our tree is now sporting its summer branches!

We are really looking forward to a busy bank holiday weekend, and with the weather looking fabulous, what better way to spend it than at the WWII weekend in Ironbridge!

The park and ride will be on all weekend, so you'll always find somewhere to park.
