⚓ AIDAluna is in port today! ⚓

The AIDA Cruises ship has arrived at the Port of Cromarty Firth this morning — sailing in fresh from Stornoway and the Isle of Lewis — and Invergordon is rolling out the welcome mat. 🏴

Herzlich willkommen in Invergordon! 🇩🇪

A warm hello to everyone coming ashore today. While many tours head off to Loch Ness and Inverness, we’d love you to spend some of your day right here in town — it’s only a short 5-minute stroll from the ship.

Good morning! 🌅

Another day another amazing visitor cruising into town. Today the Norwegian Star has graced us with her presence, arrived in port at 7am this morning, fresh from on the Norwegian fjord coast and heading to Edinburgh (Leith) this evening.

She's a mighty 294 metres long, weighing in at 91,740 gross tons, and carrying around 2,500 guests — plus over 1,000 crew.

Today marks her second visit to Invergordon of the season, with seven more still to come before October. Norwegian Star is one of our most frequent visitors in 2026 — nine calls in total, joint top of the leaderboard alongside Mein Schiff 2.

Who wants to know a fun fact about the Norwegian Star? She was actually built without a casino! Yep she launched in 2001 on Norwegian Cruise Line's Hawaii itineraries — and Hawaiian state law prohibits gambling on ships operating exclusively between Hawaiian ports. So she went to sea with no casino at all, one of the only ships of her size in history to do so. The casino was only added when she relocated to the US West Coast in 2004.

☀️ "Sol" is Latin for sun and she certainly has bough some Sol in with her today!

The AIDAsol sailed into the Cromarty Firth this morning from Newcastle, and she's a big one — 253 metres long, 2,350 passengers, and a set of unmistakeable giant red lips painted across her bow. Tonight she heads for Lerwick. But first, the Highlands get her and her passengers and crew are spoiled for choice on what to explore here on this beautiful day.

Those red lips aren't just decoration. When AIDA launched their very first ship in 1996, a designer painted a pair of bright red lips on the hull to "evoke a kiss of welcome" at every port. The concept was so striking it became the permanent identity of the entire fleet. Every AIDA ship since has worn the same artwork. Nearly 30 years later — people are still photographing it at every port it visits. You can't miss it.

Here's the number that still surprises us: AIDAsol is scheduled to visit Invergordon seven times this season — more than all but two other ships in the entire 2026 schedule. That's somewhere between 14,000 and 16,000 German holidaymakers arriving in our little town from this single ship alone. One ship. All summer. We love it. Whats even more fun is that not only did her sister ship open this season but on AIDAsol's last visit in October this year she will be the final Ship closing the season too which we find very fitting indeed 🥰

I didn't have to be out armed with a camera at the crack of dawn on this morning as I was well prepared and shot many lovely images of the Mein Schiff 2 when she stopped by on her Maiden Call of this massive 10 visit season to Invergordon. I was up incredibly late working on some other amazing new things for Explore Invergordon though. Watch this space for more on that! 👀

As we see the lovely Mein Schiff 2 gliding into port again on this stunning sunny day here in Invergordon, I would like to take another moment to welcome all Passengers and Crew aboard. 🛳️☀️

Did you know that the name "Mein Schiff" — which literally means "My Ship" in German — was chosen by the German public in a nationwide contest? Over 11,000 people submitted more than 30,000 name suggestions, and the winning name was so loved it became the brand name for the entire TUI fleet. So every passenger on board is quite literally sailing on their own ship! 🇩🇪❤️

And if that wasn't enough — every single cabin on board comes with its own espresso machine ☕ — even the inside cabins. And for those who like to keep fit at sea, there is also a 438-metre jogging track... with a 10% incline built in. That's not a stroll. That's a workout! 🏃

Invergodon getting a good soaking from the Cromarty Firth today. It’s choppy out there with waves breaking over the road.

We still have 30mins till high tide too so it’s going to get even better yet! 🌊
