🏃‍♂️ 12-Hour Charity Run for Kidney Cancer UK 🧡

Some of you will know that Kidney Cancer has deeply affected the team here at Badger and Bean over the last year and continues to do so.

It's the sixth most common cancer in the UK, with approximately 13,300 new cases diagnosed annually. Alarmingly, over half of these cases are diagnosed incidentally, often during tests for unrelated conditions, leading to delays in treatment which can be devastating.

Join us in supporting this fantastic cause as Eliott from Howden Coffee takes on another crazy challenge, an epic 12-hour run around The Ashes—raising funds for Kidney Cancer UK!

🗓 Sunday 24th August 7am – 7pm

📍 The Ashes, Howden

Eliott will be running continuous laps from dawn ‘til dusk, and he might be joined by some of the Badger & Bean team for a few laps too!

I wanted to add a huge thank you to Elmet Lions and in particular Margaret Hartley for the support on my ‘Run the Premier League’ challenge. Without their help I wouldn’t have been able to get as far as I did. Maggie was my support driver for a day as well as working very hard to organise the support from other branches of the charity. With regret, I have to announce that I have had to end my ‘run the premier league’ challenge at 500 miles. My feet are now not able to cope with the demands that are required on a daily basis. I took a rest day on Saturday to allow some healing time, but this was not enough.
I can’t help but feel frustrated as I hate to feel that I have given up. Overall my body has amazed me in its ability to adapt and overcome, but my feet have not received the same memo. I will learn from this, and plan on finishing this challenge once my feet have fully healed. Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement. I was fortunate to have my friend Dan join me for my last day on the London leg. He helped me shuffle 24 miles for the day and distract me from the discomfort I was feeling. Time to get some rest and recuperate before getting back at it.

Day 13 and 14 completed. Slow day yesterday as travelled unsupported. Had to hike with all my days supplies in my backpack. Today I didn’t get as far as I’d have liked due to having a sports massage to give my legs a once over. On a positive note, I visited Ipswich Town Football Club today, which is another ticked off. Hopefully tomorrow gets me back to 30 miles plus, and my blisters ease a little. Please help me support Prostate Cancer UK by donating to my JustGiving page below. Thank you 🏃
