✨ Silent Auction: “Imperfectly Perfect” Quilt ✨

We’re thrilled to share this one-of-a-kind handmade quilt, created especially for our Rescue and Repair campaign by The Great British Sewing Bee 2025 contestant .glendora is now for sale via silent auction at with funds raised going directly to Shelter.

Glendora, a passionate quilter since 2021, has transformed nine of our unsold shirts into a beautiful and completely unique piece. Every part of this quilt has been thoughtfully designed to reduce waste and keep fabric in use for longer – proving that quilting can be creative, practical and sustainable.

She describes the quilt as “Imperfectly Perfect”, inspired by the challenge of bringing together such an eclectic mix of shirts. To create visual harmony, she repeated bold designs from a vibrant Desigual shirt – flowers, lips, hearts and circles.

Glendora hopes this quilt inspires you to see beauty in what might otherwise go to waste – and maybe even try quilting yourself 💛

The auction is live from Friday 20th March at 09:00 GMT and will close on Friday 3rd April at 12:00 GMT. The winner will be the individual with the highest bid above the reserve price and will be contacted within 1 week of the closing date. The quilt will be available to collect from the Kings Cross shop within 14 days of the announcement, or delivery can be arranged if the buyer covers delivery costs. If we do not hear from the winner within 14 days of contacting them, we reserve the right to contact the second highest bidder, and so on. If no bid meets the reserve price, the quilt will not be sold on this occasion.

We won!!! 🏆

Last week Shelter shops won the Best Customer Engagement Campaign at the Drapers Conscious Fashion Awards for our Rescue & Repair initiative. 🪡🧵

In the first three months since launch, the campaign diverted 4,788 items from ‘rag’, increased income from sold as seen items by 13%, and created community conversations in store with 13 in-person repair events and online with many collaborations with our wonderful supporters.

Happy World Book Day! 📚✨

One of our favourite ways to celebrate is by giving stories a second life. Today we picked up a few fab secondhand books — slightly worn pages, little notes in the margins, and that unmistakable old-book smell. Every pre-loved book feels like it carries a bit of history with it.

Buying secondhand isn’t just good for the planet 🌍 — it’s also a reminder that great reads never go out of style.
