A little bit about us at Balloons by Mealor 🎈
I’ve had lots of new followers recently, so I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly again and told you a little bit about the person behind Balloons by Mealor.
I’m Ali, and I set up Balloons by Mealor in October last year, officially starting to trade in November. What started as a completely new venture has quickly grown into something I’m incredibly proud of, creating bespoke balloon displays and event styling for all kinds of celebrations.
Since starting, I’ve invested in professional training, high-quality balloons and an ever-growing collection of carefully chosen props and backdrops. I’m constantly developing my skills and refining my style because the quality and finish of every setup really matters to me. I want each installation to feel considered, beautifully put together and a little bit special.
It’s certainly been a busy year. Alongside building Balloons by Mealor, I’m currently coming to the end of my Master’s in Finance, with just over five weeks left to go. Not that I’m counting 😂
Balloons by Mealor isn’t my day-to-day job either. I look after the accounts, administration and paperwork for my husband Gareth’s business, GMS, while fitting my balloon work around everything else.
And speaking of Gareth, you’ll often see him helping behind the scenes. He has somehow acquired the unofficial position of Balloons by Mealor’s unpaid employee 🤣 Whether it’s loading everything up, transporting props or helping me get an installation safely to its final destination, he regularly gets roped in. Now that my mother-in-law Jan has retired, she’s also finding herself recruited from time to time.
Gareth and I married in June 2024, and when we manage to escape work, studying and balloons, one of our biggest loves is travelling, particularly around Far East Asia.
Less than a year into Balloons by Mealor, I’m still constantly developing the business and finding new ways to create beautiful, bespoke setups for my customers. I absolutely love seeing an idea go from something in my head to the finished installation ready for somebody’s special occasion.
