So the next two projects have been finished
The first is a alpine white Epiphone les Paul custom,
This has been a staple of any guitar player for many years and now thanks to the modifications of a solid brass nut and a new string butler the tuning stability is bar non now,
The brass nut with its construction and filed to size has given the strings a area of no friction to slide through while bending, while the string butler, has rollers fitted to the inner strings to keep them straight while bending eliminating another point of contact to aid in tuning stability, making this guitar a slick beast to play.
The next is a labour of love, this was my very first guitar my father bought it for me when I was 14 years old, I'm 34 now so it is over 20 years old, the hohner hs-59 stratocaster
Keeping up with Leo fenders vision of an electric guitar that would be easily modifiable and repairable this guitar has proven this, when I found it 5 weeks ago, the electronics were damaged, the pick ups were humming no end, the varnish had peeled, the frets were damaged, the metal had corroded and the pick guard was snapped
So it has been re fretted, new hipshot locking tuners, a brass nut to aid stability, new brass strong tree to get rid of the sitar sound, the neck was re fretted and oiled and polished, tiny tones made me a custom mirrored gold pick guard with my initials on it, 3x Seymour Duncan hotrail pick ups, a wilkinson gold bridge and new gold hardware as well as electronic sound proofing inside the guitar as well as sound dampening the springs, making this guitar an instrument to rival my £1000 fender stratocaster, for a guitar my father paid £100 for 20 years ago so I could learn to play the memories I have with this guitar will last a life time, my goal was to make this guitar somthing that would be a model to what you can do with time and patience and to give a sound that would rival both that of Eric Clapton and iron maiden both famous for their use of the stratocaster.
So as a token of appreciation to my dad, I'm going to record with this guitar one of the songs he always wanted me to play when I was learning and thats Eric Clapton - Layla
