I changed tack again yesterday and reverted to the crochet bikini tops. The first is in a deeper lilac purple than my camera shows. (It really doesn't like pinks/reds/purples!).

I'm making some of these to go to an event in a weeks time. I really hope this warmer weather holds on until then. I'm not holding my breath though as Summer seems rather shy.  It peeks out from behind Cloud for a few days then hides behind Cloud, Rain and Wind again. It's obviously very shy and makes it incredibly difficult to know what to wear each day doesn't it Dear Reader. By my armchair I have a thin overshirt and a thicker fleece!🤔

Yesterday passed without the third thing showing it's face, and I managed to finish the double stranded belt which just needs to be blocked so that it doesn't bear a strong resemblance to the first cousin of an Albino Python!

I had a great two hour crochet session where we continued working on a waistcoat adapted from a 1960s mini dress pattern. It wasn't without incident however, as I hadn't looked at that section of the pattern for a couple of years and somehow while reading it out my eyes, brain and mouth weren't at all in sync and I swear what I vocalised was in code!🤔

Somehow it was understood and good progress was made.

Today I'm having another go at the cotton top and, hopefully, I will read this pattern correctly! 🫣

After yesterday's two frogging sessions I'm waiting for the third yarny hammer to fall!🤣 (btw predictive text changed the o in frogging to an i. Probably more accurate!🤣)

Hopefully I won't discover any more bloopers today and can continue with the double stranded belt. I'm still crying over the cotton top as there's a lot more work on that to get it right! All my own fault so I'll get back to it after the belts.

I hope your day goes well with no frogging or frigging required!!!!

Woe! Woe! and thrice Woe!

Heavens, which TV show did that quote come from. One of you Dear Readers will probably remember. I've been racking my brains and I couldn't remember until I googled it. It was said by Senna the Soothsayer from Up Pompeii which, for any of you young ones who've stumbled onto my page, was a very, very un-PC sitcom from 1969/70.

Anyway the reason it came into my head was because I had messed up (insert other words of your choosing here!🤣) the crochet cotton top I was making. After all these years I can still read a pattern completely wrong! When it says 'miss 5 stitches' it doesn't mean miss 5 spaces.

This resulted in exceptionally narrow pieces from which I was supposed to make a neck trim that would fit the average human, not a slightly chunky cousin of Barbie!

Today folks I will be ripping back a lot of work in the certain knowledge that it was all my fault. Memo to self, next time read what's there not what you think is there! 🤣
