***Trigger Warning- pregnancy loss*** We find ourselves here again, 8 months on… another pregnancy loss, and another D&C.
We found out about this pregnancy on the morning of my 40th birthday party. There was something about the timing that brought such a sense of calm — almost a feeling that it was meant to be, being so close to the other due date from our December loss.
The first time, I spoke a lot about believing that everything happens for a reason. I still want to hold onto that, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t harder to find that perspective the second time around.
Perhaps one of the cruellest parts is that my body still feels pregnant. All the symptoms are there, while knowing that the pregnancy itself hasn’t developed as it should. It’s a strange and difficult thing to process and, emotionally, this one has really got to me.
Life can be incredibly cruel sometimes, and I think it’s okay to acknowledge that without trying to immediately find the positive in it.
But amongst the sadness, I keep coming back to what I do have. The most incredible little girl, who I feel endlessly grateful for, and the knowledge that my body was able to conceive naturally again.
This pregnancy may not have been meant to continue, and right now that’s difficult to accept. But I’m holding onto hope that, in time, things will make a little more sense. 🤍
For now, I’m just giving myself the space to feel it, recover and take things one day at a time.
