Testimonials

'Made up with how good my guitar sounds and feels after its set up. Cheers to Scott Findlay! If you need anything doing to your guitar, I highly recommend him!' - Andrew Williams

'This 12 string needed a set-up so I took it to Scott Findlay, guitar tech for Heaven's Basement and others. If he's good enough for Sid Glover and Corey Taylor, then he's good enough for moi! If you want anything doing with a guitar, see Scott, recommended. Scott set the neck up, took a milli off the bridge, oiled, cleaned, new strings, sorted! :)' - Ziggy C

Quick neck change this week. As well as conversion bushings, I also had to drill new holes for the tuners and the string tree. I then recut the factory nut to fit the string gauge and set the radius on the nut.

Here is a massively fun one! A regular customer of mine has had this neglected Mexican strat on his wall for years. It had some damage to the finish but instead of a couple of spot repairs, he wanted it relic’ing. If anyone has ever tried distressing a poly finish then you know how difficult it is to get right.

It has been:
🎸 Fully Cleaned
🎸 Finish distressed to look old
🎸 New custom shop Texas Special pickup set fitted.
🎸 Electrics checked and cleaned
🎸 Set up in D standard with 11’s
🎸 Nut lubed
🎸 Truss rod adjusted
🎸 Action set
🎸 Intonation set

I first had a look at a few real vintage teles online. I knew my customer loved Springsteen so he was my inspiration. The 2 damaged spots showed how truly thick this finish really was and my only brief was to make sure the edges of this damage were feathered out. In the factory, they clear coat the body then hit it with a layer of colour so I had 2 different layers of poly to get through.
I used multiple tools/processes to age the finish and polish out any work marks so it looked natural. I then aged the bare wood underneath to make appear like the ‘wear’ was years old. My customer decided against aging the neck and wanted the hardware to have a freshen up.
As requested, I then burned my customer ’s logo into the back of the headstock with a soldering iron. Creating a truly personal instrument.
I then fitted a new set of custom shop Texas specials, gave it a full rewire and went about my usual setup schedule.
Set up in D standard with 11’s, this guitar plays absolutely fantastic and the custom shop pickups have elevated it to a level The Boss himself would be proud of!

All for £280 including pickups and strings.

You may have noticed I was a bit quiet on here last year. That’s because I was looking after my man from on their 20 year anniversary of The Poison world tour.

I started the year building a fully new, bombproof guitar rig for him. It performed fantastic over the forthcoming shows all over the world.

Wireless was taken care of by Axient with the core of the rig being 2X quad cortex. Switching and midi was through and .

Huge thanks to , , and for the guitar side of things. It sounded massive!

A fret polish keeps those bends silky smooth and extends the life of your strings.

The process I use also leaves a protective residue on your frets, meaning a longer amount of time before you need another one.

A fret polish is included in all our pro setups.

A customer brought in this masterbilt acoustic. It had buzzing on the open strings but the relief on the neck was pretty good.

A new nut was needed so I carved a custom one from a bone blank. The nut slots are now the correct depth and the radius of them is matched to the fretboard.

I also noticed the saddle from the bridge was installed the wrong way round, throwing the intonation out.

I then gave a quick tidy up to the wiring and reflowed some dry solder joints before giving it a full pro setup.

This acoustic is now buzz free, plays in tune all the way up the neck and sounds great!

A new nut and battery connector for this today! Now it’s slayyying the low notes for again.

Bit of an odd one this! Cai from was complaining about the drummers click track coming through his in ear monitors at gigs, when it shouldn’t be. The only remedy he found was to earth his tail piece with an external wire.

Upon opening up the guitar I discovered that the bridge grounding wire was cut and his strings were not grounded. I removed a bridge post ferrule and swelled the hole slightly with some steam. This allowed me to reattach the ground wire and ensured a tight fit once the ferrule was pushed back into place.

This Jag was fitted with high output pickups from and Cai plays with a fair amount of gain so I then shielded all the control cavities with shielding paint and the pickguard with copper tape. Ensuring the most noise free possible playing experience.

After a setup in D standard it plays great and the grounding issues are no more!

Have you ever had an acoustic that sounds great unplugged but as soon as you plug it in it sounds thin and tinny? That’s exactly what my customer was experiencing with this Koa GS Mini.

We had a chat and decided to swap out the pickup to a Element system. This is hands down my favourite acoustic pickup. It’s no nonsense, insanely roadworthy and sounds consistently great whatever you chuck one in.

After a full pro setup it sounds brilliant for such a small bodied guitar. Deep lows and sparkly tops!

A special shout out goes to fret butter for the amazing transformation on the frets.
