An old history of Bingley records that at Deep Cliff in Harden, in a secluded place, people said fairies could sometimes be heard making strange metallic music described as the clanging of tiny tongs and that little white garments could supposedly be seen hanging from the trees on bright nights. It also records fairy rings in the Harden valley, which local people believed marked places where the fairies had danced.
