Possibly a lovely day to be in a bookshop, weather can't seem to make up its mind. But isn't everyday a lovely day to be in a bookshop, particularly this one. Just look at all the lovely books. Look at them. Just sitting there looking booky and waiting for you to buy them. And lots of nifty gifty things, too. Don't know how you can possibly stay away.

Lovely Wednesday to be in a bookshop. Yes, it's true, open today 11-4 (usual address 😉) because we were closed on Monday. And also to see how it goes. Pop in and be part of the experiment, if we are busy we might open on more Wednesdays. Lots of lovely brac-a-bric in store as well as a million trillion wonderful books. Probably.

Open today, Saturday 2nd May (where did April go?) but closed on Monday for the bank holiday. I know you will all be at Seaton instead. Nearly finished our move around now, haway in for a look, you won't recognise the place. We now have a counter! New features include, leaning tower of big books (aka miscellaneous fiction), A-Z wall of general fiction, sofa to relax and peruse the knitting patterns, Dolores looking stunning and all the trinket vendor's wares on display downstairs. We are spoiling you.

Sorry it's not a lovely day to be in a bookshop, look at that blue sky! But maybe pop in anyways, huh? Open today (2nd April) 11-4 but closed Friday and Monday. Hopefully we will get more of our sorting and moving round done and be slightly less hazardous soon. Thanks for bearing with us during our transformation, it will be lovely when it's finished. In the meantime, books.

Following on from a social media conversation the other day we feel really strongly about a certain subject and, whilst not being disrespectful to other shops, we never like anyone to be upset.

Apparently a charity shop is refusing certain donations. Handmade goods in particular, or sometimes they will only take a percentage of the things people want to give. I know from experience that it is hard to let go of things, there are often emotional ties. House clearances from bereavements or just moving. These events are traumatic enough without being turned away when you are trying to help a charity. Obviously we are not a charity shop, just a small business trying to pay the rent, but any donations offered to us are treated with the utmost of respect and gratitude. Sentimental items often take our breath away. We like to find them the best possible home. Of course books are our favourite, but we take anything you would like to give. Our upstairs is full of joyous bric-a-brac, vintage clothes and jewellery. We love unusual things and anything that has been precious to someone is also precious to us.
