A huge thank you to the team at Clayton Fold Christmas Tree Farm for hosting us last Thursday for a British Christmas Tree Growers Association members open day at their beautifully situated site in the Peak District.

The member farm visit included an informative talk discussing the benefits and challenges that come with being a choose and cut operation along with discussing the difficulties and extremes Christmas tree growers face with the weather and much more! Members then went on a tour of the site looking at the variation across each field.

It was a fantastic day had by all. Thank you again!

Future Christmas trees across the country are enjoying the sunshine 🌞🌲

The bright green growth you see in pictures by is the trees new growth for this year.
It's very soft and delicate at the moment but will become stronger and dark green by Christmas 😁

This week, BCTGA had the pleasure of hosting a two-day workshop at Countryside Days 2026.

Pippa and Daisy engaged with school groups, teaching children about the life cycle of a Christmas tree, its sustainability, and its importance as an environmentally beneficial crop. Each child decorated a disk made from a recycled tree to take home, along with some information and a word search.

Over the two days, they welcomed 10 schools and enjoyed answering the children’s many questions about all things Christmas trees. They also spent time speaking with teachers, providing each with the BCTGA Classroom Activity Pack to support continued learning back at school.

A big thank you to Sophie and the Yorkshire Agricultural Society for the opportunity to showcase our association and farming members.

Countryside Days is a fantastic charitable event, funded by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and free for schools to attend, giving Key Stage 2 children the chance to learn more about food, farming, and the countryside.
