A Piece of Hamilton’s History? 🪟💙
This remarkable leaded stained glass window was recently donated to LAMH Charity Shop after our van team carefully collected and transported it back to the shop.
The lady who donated it believes it may date back to around 1854. While we’re still researching its history, she told us she simply couldn’t bear the thought of it ending up in a skip. She felt it represented too much history to be lost.
We couldn’t agree more.
Whether it really dates from 1854 or a little later, it’s a beautiful example of traditional craftsmanship and a reminder that some donations carry stories stretching back generations.
Rather than rushing to sell it, we’re considering preserving it as a permanent feature in the shop, allowing everyone who visits to enjoy it while helping to preserve a small piece of history for the community.
If anyone recognises the style, knows where it may have come from, or has experience with historic stained glass, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.
Every donation has a story. Sometimes, that story spans more than a century.
