Two much-loved local charities are joining together to strengthen support across Glossop, Buxton and the wider High Peak.

High Peak Baby Bank and The Hummingbird Project are proud to announce a new collaboration that will bring their services together under one roof in Buxton, creating a welcoming Community Hub offering practical help to people of all ages.

The Hummingbird Project, based in Glossop, supports individuals and families facing poverty or financial hardship by providing baby clothing and equipment, children’s and adult clothing, toiletries and period products, homewares and school uniform for free to anyone in need.

High Peak Baby Bank provides essential items such as baby clothing, equipment, nappies and formula to families in need, while also promoting the safe re-use of high-quality pre-loved items to reduce waste and support more sustainable choices for families.

By working in partnership, the two organisations will now be able to offer a more complete, joined-up service – helping individuals and families with much needed items, for free, from pregnancy and early childhood right through to adulthood.

The collaboration will operate from the Buxton Community Hub, 52 High Street, Buxton, which is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am–2pm. Volunteers from both charities will work together to support visitors, accept donations and help the community access the items and services they need.

No appointment is needed, just pop in and have a browse!

Sarah Davis, Chair of High Peak Baby Bank, said:

“We’re really pleased to be working with The Hummingbird Project. Families often don’t just need one thing - if they’re struggling with baby essentials, they’re often struggling with providing for older children or themselves too.

"By working together from one welcoming space, we can make it easier for people to get the support they need.”

Jo Gregory, Founder of The Hummingbird Project, added:

“We’ve wanted to expand our support into Buxton for some time, and partnering with High Peak Baby Bank feels like a perfect fit. Both charities share the same values and a commitment to helping people with dignity and respect, wherever they are.

"Together we can reach more individuals and families, make better use of donations, and create a true community hub for anyone who needs a helping hand.”

Visitors will be able to access:

🔷 Baby, children, teen and adult’s clothing.
🔷 School uniform.
🔷 Nappies, formula and baby equipment (safe sleep spaces, prams, baths, bottles, etc).
🔷 Toiletries and Period Products.
🔷 The sling library, feeding support, shoe fitting, baby weigh and parenting support.
🔷 Signposting to other local services and advice.

Both charities are keen to hear from anyone who would like to support the new partnership, whether through volunteering, donating items, or becoming a corporate sponsor. If you’re unsure if they stock something you need, just drop them a message and they'll be happy to help.
