* LONG POST ALERT! *
I can't quite believe it but Sunshine No.1 is 11 years old 🎉!
11 years ago, I opened the doors to customers for the first time with a churning stomach and desperately hoped people would come in 🙏.
I gave myself 2 years to make it work and, if it hadn't, I'd go back to an office job.
It hasn't all been plain sailing, especially with the pandemic and a flooded shop (that significant anniversary is very soon 🌧️!) and a long cost of living crisis but I am truly thankful to have got to 11 years 🥳.
I'm sorry I'm not offering free drinks and cakes on the shop's birthday this year, but with the huge increase in shop running costs I'm conserving shop funds so I can still be open on my 12th birthday and onwards (and I also spent lots of money sprucing up the outside of the shop!). I hope you understand 😚.
I do want to say a very very huge THANK YOU to every one of you who has supported my little shop over the last 11 years 🫂.
Absolutely every purchase, no matter how small, has helped keep the shop open and also supported all the other small business owners from across Scotland who supply Sunshine No.1.
Thank you also to all the amazing, talented artists and makers who continue to create things of beauty so I can always have a great range of gifts available 😍.
And a final thank you to Robert for his unwavering support and to all my friends and family who accept that being a self employed shopkeeper means I have so little free time 💕.
