NCAA Tournament play is underway for softball, and Georgia cruised to a 12-0 run-rule victory yesterday against North Carolina Central. The Bulldogs, hosts of the Athens Regional, are 40-13 on the season. Here are some of the statistical leaders for Georgia.
Junior Jayda Kearney leads the team with 18 home runs and an .830 slugging percentage. Sydney Kuma boasts a team-leading .383 batting average, and Sara Mosley has 49 RBI and 16 home runs, which rank first and second on the team, respectively. Alabama transfer Dallis Goodnight has swiped an impressive 20 bases on 21 attempts.
The Bulldogs also have a dynamic duo in the circle in Shelby Walters and Madison Kerpics. Walters (17-5) has been one of the conference's most dominant pitchers with a 1.34 ERA, while Kerpics (18-6) has also had an excellent season, striking out 132 batters in 138 innings while posting a 2.38 ERA.
Georgia's starting pitchers and deep lineup make them a serious threat to advance to the Super Regionals and possibly the Women's College World Series.
