I’m Sally, an artist based at Black Swan Arts in Frome. I work mainly in emulsion and watercolour, creating detailed and whimsical images of nature and rural scenes, and the quiet moments of connection we find in nature. My work often weaves together themes of ecology and creativity, drawing inspiration from the resilience and beauty of nature and our spaces in it. On this page I’ll be sharing new

My dad brought me up to believe I could do anything I put my mind to. I’ve tried many things and been terrible at a lot (dancing - 2 left feet 🤦🏻‍♀️😆), but the important thing is that he gave me an open view on life and a conviction that I could follow my dreams. Dad has always been there for us, with an open door and a listening ear, and a very capable pair of hands.

I had a lovely surprise encounter with one of these beauties at the weekend. Walking to the woods I happened to glance up at a gateway and came face to face with a large Fox. He was looking at me from a raised bank only a few feet away. Neither of us moved a muscle for what seemed like ages while we checked each other out, and eventually he calmly turned and trotted off into the woods, made my day ✨
