Camden Miniature Steam Services is a family firm, founded by Adam Harris in 1977, initially to buy and sell good quality engineering models, hence the name. After numerous adventures, including a spell linked to Clarksons of York, we started to import American engineering books, and books generally have very definitely become the tail wagging the dog. We still offer a limited range of Drawings, a

nd a large range of DVDs on engineering subjects, railways, and much more. We have also published a number of high quality books, both reprints and brand new, exclusively distribute books from a number of American publishers and DVDs from American and Australian producers and the famous Ton Pruissen series. In addition we’ve also ventured into digital formats and start our own range of online digital flip books. We have customers in nearly 70 countries around the world, a figure which would have been unbelievable when we started back in the 1970s, but which is a testament to our service to customers. both in the UK, and further afield. Adam Harris now largely looks after the marketing and book production side, helped by wife Hilary, whilst son Alex And Daughter in law Becca is in charge of the main office, customer contact and order dispatch.

One major piece of news concerns the end of Camden, Camden will survive after-all, but will be split in to two.

After the previous plans fell apart I (Becca) remembered all your emails, Facebook messages and plea's to continue. Me and Alex saw it as a sign and we have decided we will take the publishing and new book selling side over, merging it into Alex’s business which a lot of you already know (Ash Models), and Adam will continue Digital Books, and ‘second hand books’. Alex is full of ideas for the future, as am I- These include reprinting some old and very much missed Camden books and Adam hopes to keep expanding the range of Digital Books.

We are still at the “Sorting Out’ stage of all this but its all falling into place and will be completed soon (we will set up own mailing list and do some very big changes to Alex’s current website - keep your eyes peeled for that in the coming weeks), meanwhile we continue as usual for a few more weeks.

CLOSING DOWN DATES (please read this!)

Our Closing Day has been fixed as the 31st July.

Before then the following dates should be noted:

Friday 19th June - any customers wishing to order books imported from overseas ( https://camdenmin.co.uk/collections/overseas-imported-books ) should order by this date,
so we have time to get any overseas stock needed before we close.
Orders after that date will only be available if the items requested are in stock.

Friday 17th July - we will be placing our last orders to UK suppliers for stock ( https://camdenmin.co.uk )

After this date orders from the UK and overseas will only be if the items requested are in stock.

The last dispatch of orders will be on Friday 31st July.

We will be closing mid July, so like we said don’t hang around getting your orders in especially anything we import from the USA and other countries as we will stop importing a few weeks before closing.
