πΎ MORNING EVERYONE! Eddie here! πΎ
Mum tells me we've welcomed lots of new followers recently, and there seem to be quite a few people asking how they can get their paws on a Weagle. So I thought I'd share the story from the very beginning (sorry to those who have heard it before! π).
Back in 2017, Mum and Dad decided that a beagle would be the perfect addition to the family. Along came Buddy, who promptly took over the house, the sofa, and most of Mum's attention.
Then in 2018, Mum had a slightly bonkers idea. She made a tiny model of Buddy out of Fimo clay and shared it on a beagle page. To her surprise, over 80 people asked if she could make one of their beagles too!
At the time, Mum randomly chose 12 people and asked them to make a donation to Beagle Welfare instead of paying her. And that's where the Weagle story really began.
What started as a little hobby making handmade beagle models in Scotland has grown into something far bigger than Mum ever imagined. The Weagles page was launched in 2019 and since then thousands of wonderful beagle lovers from around the world have joined our little community.
Now, a question Mum gets asked all the time is:
"Can you make me a Weagle?"
The answer is that she'd absolutely love to make one for everyone... but there simply aren't enough hours in the day!
You see, Mum isn't a full-time Weagle maker. She runs her own podiatry business, looks after Dad, keeps Buddy happy (which is a full-time job on its own), feeds Stan and Benny the cats, and somehow still finds time to cater to my demanding treat requirements. π
Every single Weagle is handmade, which means they take a lot of time, care and patience to create. That's why Mum doesn't usually make lots of extras to sell.
The Weagles have always been about bringing people together, having fun, helping beagles and supporting good causes. Over the years, thanks to the incredible generosity of this group, we've helped individual beagles when times were tough for their hoomans and donated thousands of pounds to beagle charities.
And here's another little secret...
Mum doesn't make money from Weagles.
Any pennies raised go straight back into buying clay, materials and all the bits and bobs needed to make the Weagles extra cute. I don't even get paid in treats for writing these posts, and Buddy is still waiting for royalty payments for being the original Weagle inspiration. ππΆ
So for all our lovely new followers, welcome! β€οΈ
If you'd like a chance of adopting a Weagle, the best way is by joining in our fundraisers. Mum is currently thinking of making 15 Weagles for the upcoming fundraiser, with proceeds helping April, May and June's chosen charities.
Any money raised will be shared between Animal free research UK ( Herbie's Heroes) , Beagle Welfare, and whoever is chosen through June's Buddy's Bonus Ball Bonanza.
Thank you all for supporting our little corner of the internet and helping us do some good while having a bit of fun along the way.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some very important Sunday snoozing to catch up on.
Love,
Eddie πΎβ€οΈ
