If you’ve got a busy house with lots of foot traffic on the stairs, a tough loop carpet like this Luna in shade Glacier is a brilliant shout.

It’s hardwearing, doesn't show up vacuum tracks or footprints like a deep plush carpet does and it bounces back really well. The main thing to watch out for with these is the tucking on the stairs, if the fitter rushes it, the backing can show through on the nose of the step.

Look at how the light from that back window tracks all the way down the planks to the front door.

When you're laying a wood effect floor like this Country Oak, the direction of the planks makes or breaks the room. Lay them across the hallway and it feels like a ladder, lay them lengthways with the natural light and it opens the whole entrance up.

If your hallway feels a bit tight or dark, changing the direction of the flooring is the oldest trick in the book to make it feel twice the size.

This was a proper workout! Bedrooms, landing, and stairs all finished in 'Seduction' (Stone Washed Linen).

Really happy with how seamless the flow looks around that central wall in the master bedroom. When you've been fitting for over two decades, you get a feel for how a carpet wants to lay, and this one behaved itself beautifully. It feels brilliant underfoot.

A lot of people think stripes only work on dead straight stairs, but you can absolutely have them in with winding steps like this.

This is Mississippi Pastels. If your hallway is a bit dark and needs lifting, a wool stripe like this completely changes the look of the whole house the minute you walk through the front door.

It’s a proper bit of work to get the lines straight on the bends, but that’s what you pay an experienced fitter for. Pop into our showroom if you fancy looking at the samples and I’ll show you what’ll work on your stairs.
