Well unfortunately it's got to that time, we are only days away from closing now. The shelves are becoming empty, the deliveries are stopping and it's becoming very clear that denial isn't working and I should seriously be looking for a job!
I know to a lot of people in the village it was just a shop and post office, but I know it has been so much more for so many people.
Somewhere to come for a chat when feeling lonely, or more seriously when health issues have been a problem. Somewhere to come when something tragic has happened in your family and you just need someone not so close to listen to you. Somewhere safe to come when someone has felt unsafe and we've either been able to help by just giving advice or in other cases involving the police.
We have been here through the whole lockdown fiasco, so many villagers helping to keep stock in the shop or doing deliveries.
I have done this job now for 11 years and I am going to miss everything about it!! -However, I will not miss having to argue with suppliers who do not supply when supposed to!! I'm sure most of you have at sometime come across me in the shop shouting at someone down the phone!!😃
I will miss seeing the familiar faces every day that I do, when will I see them when we're closed?
I will miss Heather who has been by my side Monday to Friday for the past 7 years??!! It's strange to think that we won't see each other every day, debate the days newspapers, find new ways of confusing the customers when we move something in the store and find new products to get in.
Feeling pretty rubbish at the moment - can you tell?😃
Relevant point - someone has just popped their head round the door to tell me their husband has just come back from a long stay in hospital. She said " I had to come and let you know!"
This is what I am going to miss.😔
