Inspirational class. Just finished a class with the amazing learning (or remembering) some techniques that will come in handy for using up offcuts. I have some gorgeous velvet I want to make a wall hanging with so these techniques will be put to good use. Swipe to see the reality of an online class!

Vignettes Quilt. I am taking part in .parkes quilt a long this month to make a Vignettes quilt. I’ve had these off cuts for many a year. The second picture was before the leaf shapes were added and they make a huge difference.

Tuttu Juttu dress. I love this dress - it was a bit of a knit but so worth the effort. As with all Anu’s designs it’s a great fit and so easy and comfortable to wear. I knitted it with my stash yarn. It’s knitted with 2 strands of 4ply/fingering together so makes it a bit quicker to knit. The last image shows my colour scheme for the next one (with Dizzie’s help). I think I’ll do a ‘fade’ style version instead of the stripes next.

I thought I would share some of my current, recent and historical work. Starting with my favourite jumper knitted in 2007, my dress by (which just needs a sleeve finished and I’ll post some proper pictures) knitted with stash yarn, the extra large project bag I made to keep it in and my latest FO hat. That’s Finished Object to non knitters and what you thought it meant to any stalkers with nothing else to do but doom scroll strangers feeds! 🤣🧶

Pleats & Pintucks. I attended a class on the amazing Quilty Nook this week with .parkes One of the best classes I think I’ve ever attended. Although I’ve used the pintuck technique on a hat (see image 2), this class made me think about all the possibilities I could do. I can’t recommend it enough. For anyone who missed it or just joining the Nook it was recorded so available for all members whenever they want. Heidi - thank you so much for sharing your immense knowledge in such a fun and inspiring way.

Hat stands. I thought I’d try a technique I learned on a workshop recently to make hat stands for my stall. It’s a great technique to use up bits of fabric you can’t really use for anything else. I made the hair from odd balls of yarn. I’d prefer to leave the ‘face’ faceless so it doesn’t take attention from the hat. The stand was made by a fellow trader and worked out brilliantly.

Wired. No idea where it came from but it was the word I thought when I looked at the profile. It’s strange how you see things differently as you grow as a maker. And no idea how it will end but I’m going with it for now.

And Mackey the monkey made it home from the market and has wasted no time finding his favourite places to climb in the garden. I added a picture of two of the astilbes as they’re in full bloom. They remind me of those pink and white mallow and wafer biscuits you used to get - probably made with edible plastic but they were so good. Mackey was created by the super talented lady
