Primed or undercoated? They might sound like the same thing, but there’s an important difference 👇
Primed MDF already has a base coat applied to seal the surface, helping your paint sit evenly rather than soaking straight into the board. Once fitted, all it usually needs is a light sand before you move on to your chosen topcoats.
Undercoated MDF takes things one step further. It gives you a smoother, more finished surface and can mean one less coat of paint once everything’s installed.
So, which should you choose?
🖌️ Primed is a great option if you’re already planning to decorate the whole room and don’t mind doing the additional coats.
⏱️ Undercoated is ideal if you want to cut down the prep and painting time once your mouldings are on the wall.
It all comes down to how much finishing work you want to do yourself.
Which would you choose for your next project: primed or undercoated?
