If you’ve been around The Natural Beauty Pot for a while, you might remember when our products looked like this… 👀
But I don’t think I’ve ever properly shared why they changed.
About 13 years ago, I was at a meeting with Invest NI. As part of their routine checks when meeting with a prospective client, they looked into my business name at the time - Nature’s Inspiration.
And that’s when I got the news…
The name was trademarked by Procter & Gamble.
They weren’t currently using the name, but I was advised that they had a history of being extremely protective of their intellectual property.
The advice was basically: change it, and change it now, before they notice.
I was absolutely gutted.
I had already spent thousands on the brand - the logo, branding, design work, labels, website, packaging… when you added it all up, it was a lot of money.
And, if I’m being honest, it took me quite a while before I could really talk about it.
At the time, it felt like the years I’d spent building Nature’s Inspiration had been completely wasted.
But looking back now, I can see it very differently.
Changing the name forced me to step back and really think about what I wanted the business to become. It gave me the opportunity to create something that felt much more me and The Natural Beauty Pot was born. 💜
Fast forward all these years and I can honestly say I’m so glad it happened.
Sometimes the things that feel like a disaster at the time end up being the thing that pushes you in a much better direction.
I think The Natural Beauty Pot is a much better fit and yes we have a registered trademark. ☺️
