Nina Winder-Lind - “Wild Love” out on Transgressive
Latest offering from The New Eves’ Cello-Vocalist is a stunning array of emotive folk-rock. Winder-Lind is clearly well studied in the songwriting schools of Bob Dylan and The Velvet Underground. This new record feels fresh whilst proudly holding the flag of its forebears.
Getdown Services - “Massive Champion” out on Breakfast Records
Humour is an often-avoided element of music, and for good reason. It’s very difficult to get right in the manner that self-described “Britain’s Best Band” Getdown Services do on this record. Musically speaking the record is airtight, not a moment wasted across its 13 tracks, and with an undeniable wit and charm, the Bristol duo are onto a winner.
Hovvdy - “Big World” out on Arts & Crafts
Currently touring with Wilco, Hovvdy seem to have mastered their craft when it comes to expertly constructed Alt-Country. The songs on this record speak for themselves, but the recording is absolute top drawer. The drums have so much depth, vocals are satisfyingly saturated, and guitar tones most would dream of. All making for a pleasant listening experience that you’ll come back to again and again (as we have in the shop over the past few days!).
