Great Grandad x 12 The Black Laird, charged and hanged at the Mercat cross on the 15th December 1573 for the murder of Lord Darnley 10th February 1567 in the Kirk o' Field (St Leonards), Edinburgh.
He is recorded in saying he was there, but he didn’t light the fuse. Some believe he was the only one involved that would have had the knowhow.
