Last but not least, the man behind GLOW and , James Donald.

James is a hand weaver based in Leith, Edinburgh. He predominately weaves using merino lambswool, enjoying the colour variations one gets from this colourful and versatile yarn.

He is enjoying examining how many ways he can interpret differing stitched marks and patterns through the medium of weave on a 32 shaft Megado loom; his pride and joy! As well as stitched marks he is currently obsessed by all things denim, sampling is continually evolving as to how he can weave these two trains of thoughts together.

He will be presenting another mini collection of new woven works at Winter GLOW! Remember, to pop along this weekend to see it 😍

Joining us at Winter GLOW is

Sandra takes her influence from nature and architecture. With such a vast spectrum to work from, this allows Sandra to produce various bodies of work. Sandra's work comprises of- black free-hand intricately decorated vessels, earthy oxide striped vessels, colourful dishes and platters and more, all of which she will be showing at Winter Glow Christmas Show 2022.

To date Sandra's practice is also varied - collaborations with a local interior designer, collaborations with two local sculptors, skills-swapping with a local textile designer/printer, teaches in adult education settings, facilitates sessions in her studio for all ages and abilities, undertakes commissioned work and exhibits her own work.

Sandra needs variety, she hopes you enjoy seeing it.

Joining us at Winter GLOW is

Mairi is a textile artist working with free-machine embroidery to decorate the clothing and soft furnishings that she makes, mainly on a commission basis.

Inspired by flora and fauna she studies the details of each animal or flower to recreate it in stitch. The rich colours and way that light catches on say a bird’s wing or lilies petal is recreated with her process of drawing and painting with thread.

Each piece becomes a little treasure reminding the wearer or owner of how precious our wildlife is and how surprising colours can be found in everyday creatures and plants.

Saskia Gavin will be showcasing her jewellery and sculpture I will be at Winter Glow.

The pieces will be made primarily from silver and copper and will feature rings, necklaces, brooches and earrings from my Hutton’s Section collection (all rocky strata and weathering) and from my latest collection, Next Year’s Garden, which reflects my fascination with pods and how they hold and then release the seeds.

Saskia said “the older I get, the more wonder I have for the things I see all the time and I aim to celebrate
this in my jewellery which is both for everyday adornment and those ‘non-marigold’ days!”

Rebekah McVitie process is rooted in collecting, reuse and history.

She is not settled on one practice but at the moment she works with sea glass which she lampworks into beads and embroider.

At Winter GLOW she will be selling necklaces made from sea glass collected along the Firth of Forth, some of which are sold with an embroidered map of the area where the glass was found.

These make a lovely sentimental gift for Christmas. 🎁

Looking for a special piece of jewellery for the festive season?

Pop into see us in the loft space at Restoration Yard from 9th - 11th of December! We have a range of designer makers and a small selection of jewellery makers with a variety of beautiful handmade pieces.

These pieces shown are by, Ellen Catherine which was founded in 2018 by jeweller Catherine Nuttall. Their name takes inspiration from Catherine’s grandmother, Ellen, who loved to use her hands to bring crafts to life.

Catherine creates each piece from her workshop using traditional artisan techniques with a contemporary twist.

All of her pieces are designed to be worn day and night, with options to keep it simple and clean, or to stack up, layer and mix and match. They believe that everyone deserves to wear something truly special that fits effortlessly into their style, injecting a subtle hint of shine to any outfit.
