Vinyl Villains

Vinyl Villains Vinyl Villains, established in 1983, is one of a small number of surviving old-school record shops.

A combination of factors, including economic conditions and the increasing reliance on the internet for shopping, has killed off two-thirds of our independent record retailers. I tend to hope that the main reason for the continued survival of Vinyl Villains (although there have been a few close shaves!) is that there are still a huge number of like-minded people out there, with a discerning taste

in music, who refuse to be brainwashed into accepting the regurgitated gunge that passes for culture today.

Punk pioneer Brian James, founding member of The Damned, has passed away aged 70 💔
Brian was the writer of the first-ever UK punk single ('New Rose'), and the principal songwriter of The Damned's debut album.

Good morning,

When I opened W.T.GT3 years ago 😲 I understood that the trams would be coming and the effect this would have on the location of the shop.

However I genuinely thought this time the promises made and advertised in the press would be adhered to making life easier for local shops and residents (regular crossing points, signage, parking, bike points etc)

Unfortunately since the closing of Pilrig street junction and the lack of crossing points/information it has made it very hard for everyone.

As a resident, a business owner and member of the Leith community council I am very concerned about the effects this is having on other local business and the residents that live in this area.

That being said I am organising a meeting between local business and trams to Newhaven.

Do you own/manage a business on the current tram works?

Please get in touch, I am happy to bring your concerns to the meeting if you can't make it.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support.

I've just invested in a trolley for moving records. If you have a collection to sell I can pick-up from your car if you park at the junction of Montgomery St., where the barriers are, or somewhere nearby.

Tram-works have temporarily disabled parking outside the shop. If you are selling a collection, I can help you to carry it to the shop, if you manage to park nearby, e.g Montgomery St, Royal Terrace, Gayfield Square, etc.
