🌸 A WEE HAPPY STORY… 🌸

Honestly, this is one of the things I absolutely love about having a flower shop. You just never know who is going to walk through that door or what story they’re going to tell you. ❤️

Today, the loveliest wee lady came in, and we got chatting away as you do.

Well… what a life she has lived.

She was telling us all about her younger days, how she had been in the Navy, the life she had lived, the memories she had made and all the stories she had collected along the way.

Then she told us she had been married for 55 YEARS.

FIFTY-FIVE YEARS!! 😳❤️

I just stood there thinking… can you actually imagine being with the same man for 55 years?! 😂

She spoke about it so naturally as well, as if 55 years was nothing. But when you actually think about it, that’s more than half a century of doing life together.

The good times, the bad times, probably a million arguments over absolutely nothing, raising a family, watching the world completely change around you, growing older together… and still having all those memories to look back on. ❤️

Now, saying that… I’ve done 25 years with Mark and I personally think I should already have been presented with some sort of medal for services to relationships. 🏅😂 So another 30 years?! Jesus Christ. 🤣

But joking aside, I absolutely loved listening to her.

Sometimes people come into the shop for flowers and end up leaving us with something instead.

Today it was a wee reminder that everybody who walks through our door has a story. A whole life full of memories, adventures, love, loss, laughter and probably a few people they’ve wanted to strangle along the way. 😂

And I think that’s actually quite special.

55 years married and a life that included serving in the Navy… what a woman. ❤️⚓️

She absolutely made our day. 🌸

Honestly, does anybody want Lilah tonight? 😂

Been at work all day, deliveries, about 400 traffic lights… finally get home and it’s BARK BARK BARK. 😭

She’s been fed, walked, watered… she wants absolutely NOTHING apart from my full attention.

And now she’s just standing staring at me like this. 😂😂

Honestly Lilah, give me peace woman. 😭🐶

❤️⚽ RIGHT, I’M GOING TO BLOW OUR OWN TRUMPET HERE… ⚽❤️

So, let me give you a wee bit of a story behind this one.

Dixie has only been with us since around the end of June. She’s 17 years old, learning the trade and being trained by myself, Pauline, Jen and Evie.

And THIS is what she created. 👏👏👏

A bespoke Heart of Midlothian FC funeral tribute and honestly, for a 17-year-old to pull something like this out the bag, with that amount of detail and not a single mistake, is absolutely phenomenal.

I’m no blowing my own trumpet here… or Pauline and Jen’s…
Actually, do you know what? I absolutely am. 😂📣

Because training the next generation of florists is something we should be proud of, but Dixie deserves ALL the credit for this one. She listened, took her time, paid attention to every tiny detail and absolutely smashed it. ❤️

Bespoke funeral work isn’t easy. There is nowhere to hide with a design like this — every line, every letter and every piece has to be right.

17 years old. Just weeks into the job. Look at what she created.

Dixie, you should be incredibly proud of yourself. We certainly are. ❤️

And to the rest of my team Pauline, Jen and Evie this is what happens when you take the time to teach someone properly. ❤️

❤️ A little appreciation post for my team ❤️

The past two weeks have been absolutely CRAZY. Funeral after funeral, bespoke tribute after bespoke tribute, and some of the things we’ve been asked to create have definitely had us scratching our heads at the start. 😂🌸

But I actually wanted to write this post because sometimes I feel a wee bit guilty. I’m the one who posts everything on social media, I’m the face you probably see most, and sometimes it can look like it’s all me.

It absolutely is NOT.

Behind Nikki’s Fleurs there’s Pauline, Jen, Evie and Dixie — and honestly, I couldn’t do half of what we do without them. ❤️

There’s always someone cutting, wiring, flowering, spraying, gluing, making bouquets, answering customers, cleaning up the absolute BOMB SITE we create 😂 or standing looking at something going, “Nah… something’s no right there.” And someone else will come over, move one wee thing and suddenly it works. That’s what makes us a team.

And then there are our amazing delivery drivers. 🚐❤️ Honestly, these guys deserve medals some days. 😂

They sit in Edinburgh traffic, deal with roadworks and temporary traffic lights, hunt for houses when we’ve been given the wrong address, and follow directions like “It’s the house with the blue door… go to the end of the street, turn left, then right, then it’s just round the corner.” 🤣🤣

And somehow… they find it.

They go above and beyond because they know that, especially with funeral flowers, getting those flowers where they need to be, on time, really matters.

So this post is simply to say THANK YOU. ❤️

To every single member of my team: I see how hard you work. I see the extra things you do without being asked. And I appreciate every single one of you more than you probably realise.

Yes, my name might be above the door, but Nikki’s Fleurs is absolutely a TEAM. 🌸❤️

And after the last two weeks… I genuinely couldn’t be prouder of mine. 🥹💐

🚕💛 ONLY FOOLS & HORSES – BESPOKE FUNERAL TRIBUTE 💛🚕

Well… this was definitely a first for us!

We were asked to create a bespoke Only Fools & Horses inspired funeral tribute, based on the iconic Trotters Independent Trading yellow van — and this was the finished result.

Complete with the roof rack, parcels, Trotters Independent Trading sign and even the personalised JACK number plate, every little detail was handmade by our florists here in Edinburgh. 💛

😂 RIGHT… HOW BIG IS A 5FT CASKET SPRAY ACTUALLY?

Firstly, apologies for the chipmunk face and possibly the worst camera angle ever. 🤣 And while this photo was being taken, I was secretly thinking… “HURRY UP, JEN, TAKE THE BLOODY PHOTO!” because this thing was HEAVY. 😂

But there was actually a reason for the photo…

We created this beautiful 5ft casket spray a few weeks ago for a member of my own family, and I wanted to show you just how big these arrangements actually are.

When we photograph a casket spray sitting on the floor or on a workbench, it can look so much smaller than it really is. Sometimes I look back at our own photos and think, that looks tiny! 😂

So here I am, in all my glory, holding the full 5ft spray so you can actually see the scale of it. They are BIG! 🤍

Swipe to see the same tribute sitting on the ground and you’ll see exactly what I mean — the difference a camera angle makes is unbelievable.

So next time you see one of our funeral tributes on social media and think, “That doesn’t look very big…” please don’t judge the size by the photograph alone. Photos can be incredibly deceiving!

And yes… immediately after this photo, I put it straight back down. My arms were done. 🤣🤣
