Cute doggy to make you smile, serious post to make you think!

Something really interesting has happened since I posted the video showing how quiet we are despite the huge crowds in the centre of Edinburgh right now…

I’ve received several messages from other local businesses saying they are experiencing exactly the same issue - even small businesses in prime locations for tourism- which is interesting but also so sad!

So rather than all of us sitting in our shops worrying about it individually, I’m wondering whether we should actually do something together?

Let’s see if we can band together to promote all the little gems that our city has to offer for tourists AND for our local communities

🎟️🎪🎭 I don’t even know what to say. The city is heaving. We are dead. We’re in the city centre with views on the castle. We are next-door to the cameo cinema which is HQ for the Edinburgh film festival and all its red carpet events. Things have definitely changed over the years and not for the better. Remember to support your local tattoo studio. Or you may not have any tattoo studios left. We are your neighbours, families, friends, and community. Remember that with your local tattoo shops every pound you spend goes back into the local economy. With the fringe? Not so much.

We try to stay positive because negativity is not kawaii but this is our daily reality and a reminder to use us or lose us 🙏🥺

We opened in October 2024, had an amazing Summer 2025 which we knew was bolstered in part by the Labubu craze but we were fairly confident that we would still keep growing and building in 2026…

This year in anticipation of a good summer we hired two part time members of staff, at the same time all of our other expenses went up, and despite 72 all 5 star reviews and regular feedback that you guys love us, we just aren’t seeing the numbers coming in to support our business

We were even working with a company on a project to launch our own character IP but it’s too much of a risk to invest money into a new product when our shop is so slow

We keep waiting for our busy season to start… it’s not looking likely now…is it time for us to admit defeat and hang up our boba shakers and trinkets?
