Progress!

You would not believe how complicated and annoying it has been to move this bloody electricity meter from Point A to Point B. It has taken over a year.

So this may not feel like much to look at, but it is progress.

Onward!

What the hell am I looking at?

This is inside the Wee Leith Shop. We have waited months and months, and a few more months, to have the electricity meter moved from Point A to Point B. A distance of about a metre.

Now it's finally done, we can crack on and get the place finished. We'll practically have rebuilt the whole shop by the time it's done, but it will be worth it.

We don't have a completion date yet but - all being well - we'll manage to open while craft beer is still a thing.

When we took on The Wee Leith Shop, we were determined that any work we did on it would only be to restore it to its former glory. This included keeping the name and restoring the sign to reflect the original.

I had seen the work of Journeyman Signs. Signwriter & Glassgilder . by Tatch and knew that he was the man for the job, and couldn't be happier with what a great job he's done on our new handpainted sign.

The shop remains closed while we navigate various paperwork nightmares and unexpected obstacles with the restoration process. Meanwhile, please enjoy our beautiful new sign when you're passing and we're looking forward to throwing open the doors ASAP!

Thank you all so much for the amazing response to our news about the Wee Leith Shop! All the support and love coming our way has been just lovely ❤️

Quite a few of you have been asking to see what it was like before, so here are a few photos I took at our first viewing, before the previous owners cleared it all out. As someone who used to go by and press my face to the window trying to see inside, it was so exciting to actually get to peek inside and see it, exactly as it has been, undisturbed for years.

The previous owner has reclaimed all her treasures now, but the beautiful Tiffany lamp is still there, and it will be staying.

Also, staying - Bob the chicken kettle.
