Home Hammam
- first you want to create a warm, relaxing, preferably steamy environment for the best experience - most bathrooms are perfectly adequate for this
- Apply your henna to your hair - see previous post
- Hammam Soap - is the 1 in the plastic pot - apply this to your whole body (it is fine to use on the face) and then rinse off, you can use a hot shower of the more traditional method of having buckets of hot water and pouring from smaller pots to rinse yourself
- Exfoliation - use the glove (orange in these packs whole material glove) firmly but gently in sweeping strokes down and up (not circular motion, and be aware this should not hurt or scrape your skin) it is probably easier to start at the top with shoulders and arms and work down and as you are doing so you should see your dead skin start to roll up off of your body. this should happen naturally and not be forced. Again this is safe for your face, but we suggest smaller gentler movements and perhaps pay particular attention to places like creases.
- Rinse - again rinse your skin in your chosen method
- Cleanse - next take your natural soap bar and the criss-crossy glove and use to lather soap all over you body (again this is safe for your face - go gently with the glove or do not use - and then rinse using your chosen method.
- Nila face mask - see additional post - apply your mask using an appropriate brush if you have one - this needs to stay on for sat least 20 minutes.
- Foot exfoliation - while your mask is on, you can take your ceramic exfoliator apply some of your natural soap to it and use this to exfoliate your feet - pay extra attention to dry and hard areas and then rinse your feet.
- Relax - spend some time relaxing, breathing in the steam, just relaxing and letting your henna and nila take effect.
- Rinse - 1st rinse your nila from your face ensuring it is all gone and there is no blue tinge remaining. Then rinse your henna from your hair - rinse with warm water (avoiding eyes) until water is running pretty clear - then apply a small amount of shampoo (we recommend using a product as natural and gentle as you can find) and maybe some more water and then try and brush your hair through with the watery lather still on your head (for this we recommend using either a tangle teaser or traditional moroccan plastic type brush for ease). Once you are able to fairly easily brush through your wet soapy hair - rinse until running clear and repeat the process.
- You are all done, turn off your steam, pat yourself dry with a towel and if you have it and want to now is the time to apply your argan oil. Your skin should feel amazing and should not at this point need moisturising, but the face sometimes does especially as we age and argan oil is also amazing for the hair.
Enjoy xx
