Which is better - Topgrade or Supergrade?

We are always asked which tarpaulin is ‘better’, the Topgrade 200gsm tarpaulin or Supergrade 270gsm tarpaulin. Both are waterproof, rot proof, and UV protected so how do you know which one is best?

The truth is there isn’t a ‘better’ option, it’s about picking the right tarp for your needs. If you’re looking for a cost effective, versatile tarp with multiple colour choices (black, blue, green and white) then the Topgrade is a fantastic all rounder. We recommend this for camping, covering outdoor furniture, DIY projects, trailer covers…but it’s suitable for many more installations.

The Supergrade is perfect for those requiring a heavier weight cover, it has metal eyelets which are great for more demanding jobs. It is designed to take on tougher conditions so we recommend this for more permenant or long term installations like outdoor shelters, roof covers and canopies, covering construction and building materials, or long term firewood and machinery protection.

Ever wondered what GSM means when buying a tarpaulin?

It simply stands for grammes per square metre, basically how heavy and tough the material is. The higher the GSM, the stronger and more durable the tarp.

Here’s a quick guide:

110gsm, our Budget Tarpaulin – Lightweight and great for short term, light jobs like covering garden furniture or collecting garden waste.

200gsm, our Topgrade Tarpaulin – Our most popular tarpaulin and a step up in strength, ideal for regular outdoor use like trailers, tools and building materials.

250gsm, our Monotex Tarpaulin – A solid all rounder for everyday site work and general protection, this is our only Clear tarpaulin which makes it a popular choice as a roof cover or boat cover to let light in while working underneath

270gsm, our Supergrade Tarpaulin – Heavy duty and built for tougher, more frequent outdoor use.

570gsm PVC, our Profi Tarpaulin – Fully waterproof and super tough, used for industrial, agricultural and long term protection jobs.

Christmas is coming, make sure you’re prepared for any bad weather over the festive period. Last order date for Christmas delivery is Friday 19th but we recommend ordering as early as possible if you know you need something to arrive before Christmas to account for any delays!

☀️ AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY ☀️ Make sure you order before 2pm on Wednesday 20th August and select a NEXT DAY delivery to ensure your order arrives before the Bank Holiday Weekend!

We are open 10am - 4pm on Monday 25th but we won’t be despatching parcels. Anything ordered after 2pm on Friday 22nd won’t arrive until the following Wednesday.
