As many on this page know, June is now in a care home suffering from Alzheimer's, the most devastating condition I can think of.
After 57 years of marriage she is always in my heart and will remain so for as long as I live.
She is getting the best care that the home can give her, and in fact Peterlee Care Home (PCH) picked up a 2nd place at the National Care Home award ceremony a couple of weeks ago.
However, as with most facilities, they can only do so much due to the budgeting needs.
PCH does its best to take residents out to a local dementia cafe, to theaters or for a drive to nearby places of interest. However the costs of transporting residents by a mini bus with wheelchair access or by taxi is expensive and they can do with as much help as possible.
I am currently doing my best to give them the support they need. I want to raise a sum of money to buy a new 65" Smart Tv for their Garden Room where residents and visitors can go to watch somethhing of interest such as a really good movie or musical, without the constant interuptions in the main lounge area where those in an advanced state of decline make it difficult to concentrate.
My aim is to raise £750 for the TV and fitting of it, then continue raising money for the extras such as theatre visits, having a guest singer at the home etc.
I really need support from everyone.
My own life still revolves around June, as I always say "My wife - My life", and having cried bucket-loads over the past few months, I would like to put a smile onto her face and that of the other unfortunate souls in the care home.
I know that June had a wonderful relationship with many customers at the shop and I ask that you now raise your QR scanner on your mobile to the code below, and drop a litte something into the hat.
You have no idea how much it would be appreciated.
My own life still revolves around June. As I always say "My wife - My life", and having cried bucket-loads over the past few months, I would like to put a smile onto her face and that of the other unfrotunate souls in the care home.
Take care yourselves and with June's best wishes, have a lovey summer.
