Great opportunity for university students & recent graduates.
Durham University Brass Band with Durham Music Shop and Steve Robson presents:
THE DURHAM AND OPEN COMPOSITION COMPETITION
Over the past year, the world of music has been unable to flourish but as our lives regain normality, banding is coming back too! So, in honour of our returning musical lives, we would love to hear your compositions. And, with the summer sun above us, there is abundant inspiration to be found.
Your piece must either 1) fit the theme ‘Back to Banding’ or 2) be a concert march, both having a time limit of 6 minutes. The composition should feature some accompanying notes, explaining the significance of your piece and helping us to understand your vision. The competition will be blind judged by Steve Robson, a local composer and concert organiser from County Durham.
Enter in one of 2 classes:
1. Open to all UK university students and recent graduates
2. Open to Durham University students and recent graduates
The winner of each section will receive:
-£100
-Your work published by Modrana Music Publishers (with a competitive royalty’s agreement)
-Your piece performed by Durham University Brass Band in the upcoming academic year
