☀️ What a glorious few weeks of sunshine we’ve had! 🌸🌿

We’re certainly not complaining, but our gardens will definitely welcome the much-needed rain that’s on the way. 🌧️ With warm soil and a good soaking, everything should soon start looking greener and refreshed again.

If your lawn is looking rather brown, don’t panic! Most established lawns are simply dormant rather than dead and will recover surprisingly quickly with rainfall. Avoid cutting too short while it’s stressed and give it a little time to bounce back. 💚

Our plant area is still bursting with colour, with fresh stock constantly arriving — cyclamen, celosia, begonias, dianthus, bedding, geraniums, shrubs, climbers, bay trees and lots more! 🌺

And a HUGE thank you to our amazing team who have worked tirelessly through this intense heat — replenishing the enormous amount of stock that’s flown out, helping our customers and constantly watering thousands of plants to keep them looking beautiful. 💦🌿

🎈 Another magical morning at Poplar Tree… ❤️

There really is nothing quite like waking up in Shincliffe to the sight of a hot air balloon gently taking to the skies.

This morning we were delighted to welcome Virgin Balloons back to launch from our beautiful grounds, with perfect blue skies, calm conditions and breathtaking views across the Durham countryside.

Our Poplar Tree Lodge guests had front-row seats to the entire experience, enjoying the peaceful launch with a morning coffee before the balloon drifted silently over the village. It’s moments like these that make staying here so special.

And a little extra excitement… 👩‍🍳🎈 Our wonderful pastry chef Amanda was one of the lucky passengers this morning! We hope she’s enjoying every second of the adventure.
