Dudley, After 5 Years it's time to say Goodbye.. This is not a message we wanted to share, but we believe now is the right moment. While we’ve tried to inform as many customers as possible face-to-face in the shop, we want to let everyone know that Scent from Dudley will be closing on 13th June.
Our story isn’t ending here, but we’d like to explain our decision. Over recent years, our beloved town has seen numerous regeneration projects, including the new bus station and the Midland Metro, which we fully support. Unfortunately, these projects are long overdue, and ongoing delays have led to a significant drop in footfall. We have watched many neighbouring businesses close and have held on, hoping that by the end of our lease the bus station would be open and the metro running. Sadly, this has not happened. Had these projects been completed on time, we could have evaluated their impact on footfall and considered renewing our lease. After careful consideration, we have concluded that remaining is too much of a risk.
This is our town, we live here and we are genuinely excited for the future of the bus station and the metro, but without a strong retail presence in the town, there will be little incentive for people to use these services. At present, that presence simply doesn’t exist.
While 13th June marks our final day of trading at Scent from Dudley, it’s by no means the conclusion of our story. Rather, we’re saying goodbye to Scent from Dudley and welcoming the next chapter as simply Scent. Our new shop will soon open at The Ryemarket Shopping Centre in Stourbridge. Though it’s a smaller space, we’re excited to offer a carefully curated selection of products, creating a more focused shopping experience.
As we prepare to close this chapter, we invite you to follow our journey as we transition to our new adventure. The most difficult part of leaving Dudley is saying farewell to so many wonderful customers—many of whom have become friends. We will genuinely miss seeing you each day, and words cannot fully express our gratitude for your support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
