I want to say a special thanks this week to each and every one one of you who made a conscious decision to shop with me this week. You absolutely made up for last week's quietness. You are the best customers in the world, without a doubt!

This week’s is a lovely one for me because 80% are books I've read and recommended. It honestly means so much that you trust my opinion enough to pick up the books I rave about.

I’m just about to start Donal Ryan’s Where Are The Kings. Otherwise, it would have been 90%!

I want to give a massive shout-out to Man vs Baby whose book, The Trouble With Sister Francis has sold like proverbial hot cakes this past two days. I've genuinely never had a book sell so well in the first two days in stock! He's going to be insufferable 😂😉

Not only is this the best photo of me, EVER, it's also one of the best book covers EVER!

Here's the blurb:
1. Please form pairs
2. You can not pair with someone twice
3. Anyone without a partner will be executed.

Mishin Mizushima isn't nearly cool enough by Japanese standards. Even hemumum has ditched Mishin for a new lover, leaving her alone in their tiny apartment. At school, towering alpha females move and think as a single, terrifyingly beautiful organism.

The betas know to lay low. The rest grovel at the bottom of the cut-throat food chain. But one day, a new teacher questions the natural order with a simple instruction - and unleashes a gladiatorial catfight for survival.

Already a hit in Japan, Please Form Pairs is a candy-coated death game where every doll must play by three rules: keep up, be liked, and stay (barely) alive in a girl-eat-girl world.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN...

They're here!

I am insanely excited for you all to meet Sister Francis and the Dead Dads Club!

If you loved Man vs Baby's, Frank and Red, then I reckon you’re going to absolutely LOVE this cast of characters.

I’ve got lots of lovely large paperbacks ready and waiting to find new homes, where I can guarantee they’ll be read, enjoyed, and cherished.

You’ll laugh, you’ll fall in love with the characters and, if you’re anything like me, you might even have a little cry.

Basically… get yourself a copy. You won’t regret it!

I'm in space-making mode again!

To accommodate the lovely new paperback range of classics, something has to move on, and this time, it's this gorgeous selection of books.

All woth 25% off. Find them in both the Classics and Sale categories on the website.

Wouldn't they make a lovely gift for someone starting an English Lit course at university (or a C Word present 🎄🙈)

Hello, hello, hello... it's that time of year again when I lay myself prostrate before you and ask for your vote in the An Post Irish Book Awards Bookshop of the Year Award!

It only takes a second to vote, and saying something nice isn't even compulsory 😁

So, if you find yourself needing to exercise your right to vote, I would very, very grateful if you would give yours to me. You’ll find Bridge Books Dromore in the drop-down menu on the An Post website. I'll add the link in the comments.

Thank you in anticipation!
Love Les x

I'm sure you've seen our beautiful Chiltern Classics with their gold edges and stunning covers.

Well, now you can pick up a paperback version!

The quality of the paper in these is fabulous, and they compliment the hardbacks perfectly 👌

How about this - you keep the hardbacks as beautiful ornaments and read the paperbacks.

At only 8.99 & 9.99, they're definitely my favourite paperback classics out there!

As you know, it's been a quiet week this week, so it's a again.

Well, that was a day. 🙈

Today was officially the quietest day in Bridge Books’ 31 years. And while I’m absolutely not going to pretend that’s ideal, I do understand that good weather, holidays and a fast approaching of back-to-school time can play havoc with book shopping.

So, rather than sit here dramatically staring out the window at the kebab shop, I’ve been putting my time to good use and adding LOTS of books being published over the next few months to the website.

And because pre-orders really, really matter to a little independent bookshop like mine, they’re all 20% off.
Every pre-order helps me plan what to order in/not order in.

And if you don’t fancy pre-ordering anything, simply sharing this post helps enormously, too. You never know who might see it and think, “Ooh, I’ve been meaning to read that…”

So, no doom and gloom. Just one very, very quiet day, a shop full of books and an indie bookseller hoping for a slightly busier tomorrow.

And yes, I am aware that I sound like Orphan Annie... 😁

Happiest of publication days to the wonderful author and human that is Donal Ryan!

The anticipation for this one has been palpable. We DR fans are very happy people today. And, as if it could get any better, it has spredges!

Here's the blurb:
Something terrible has happened to Jack, but no one seems to want to talk about it. His uncles can tell him about everything from quantum physics to how to hunt for deer, but they can’t seem to tell him anything about their own sister or why Jack doesn’t feel sad for her in the way he should, or why Grandad tries to shoot Jack’s dad when he gets out of the hospital. Still, there’s work to be done in the oily wonderland of his uncles’ garage; there’s his beautiful aunt Rose to hypnotise him and his loving grandparents to console him; then there’s JJ, who wants to fight him one day and save him the next.

But with so many questions, in a family with so many secrets, it is difficult for Jack to understand the person he is becoming. How can a simple boy learn to become a king?
